I just came across the most infuriating Instagram comment: “Mo Ran/Tanxianjun never deserved a happy ending.”
And I swear, people who say that have never read his story with even a shred of empathy. They’ve never looked past the surface to see the scared, desperate, painfully soft-hearted boy underneath, the boy who loved Chu Wanning long before he even understood what love was.
Mo Ran was a child carrying wounds no one his age should ever have to bear. And yet he still protected, still cared, still reached out for Chu Wanning in the only broken ways he knew how. Even when the world turned its back on him. Even when he was drowning in trauma and loneliness.
To say he didn’t deserve happiness?
It’s cruel. It’s heartless. It’s ignoring the agony he crawled through just to become someone worthy of love, someone who never stopped choosing Chu Wanning, again and again, every lifetime, every version of himself.
Out of everyone in that universe, he deserved a happy ending the most.
He deserved to finally be held by the person he bent his entire existence around.
If anyone was worthy of the most beautiful, gentle, healing ending imaginable… it was Mo Ran. Always.
