NEW BLOG JUST FOR EMBROIDERY!!

For those of you who follow me for the cross stitch, and still wish to do so, I have moved all my embroidery related posting to a new blog. Tangled Floss is where I will post about embroidery in general, and cross stitch more specifically. If you want to continue following me for those topics, please switch over to that one, as I won't be posting about it here anymore.

Sorry for the switch over, but I've got a lot of things here and I wanted a place where I could specifically focus on my passion for embroidery.

Embroidery Group/Class Update

My embroidery group started the second Saturday in September, has been held nearly every Saturday since, and I got my first attendees yesterday. Woohoo! I'm so jazzed!

A graduate student has created the first man-made biological leaf. It absorbs water and carbon dioxide to produce oxygen just like a plant. He did this by suspending chloroplasts in a mixture made out of silk protein. He believed it can be used for many things but the most striking one is the thought that it could be used for long distance space travel. Plants do not grow in space, but this synthetic material can be used to produce oxygen in a hostile environment. (Video)

Poké-Stitch

My daughter is big into Pokémon, so I went searching. And struck gold!

Makibird-Stitching has a large number of Pokémon Cross Stitch patterns in their DeviantArt gallery. Lovely work with some stitched examples to show the finished product.

They have patterns from other fandoms as well (Mario, Disney, FF, etc.). Definitely worth checking out!

Embroidery Group/Class

I had my first embroidery group session at the library last Saturday.

YAY!

No one showed up.

BOO!

But there is always next time. It's new and while I was hoping for a grand stampede to come through the door, I wasn't really expecting it. Besides, I got two hours worth of work done on my own project, so it wasn't time wasted.

This is the main project I've been stitching for two years. I've had other projects that have taken me from it, and I've taken some time off, but still plugging away at it. It will have the Serenity Prayer between the trees. You can find a picture of what it will (hopefully) look like when finished here.

This is going to my mother-in-law who has long needed this prayer. She knows why. :D

Embroidery Group/Class

I'm so excited! I'm starting an embroidery group at the library I work at. People can bring their own stuff or I can teach Counted Cross Stitch and Needlepoint.

I've had several people interested already! If it goes well enough, I will probably do some instructional classes for kids.

Okay but now I’m just wondering how the actors actually did this stunt. Like, can you imagine being flying-tackled by 200 pounds of solid muscle? And it’s obviously the actors in the freeze frame at a point in which it seems like it’s far too late for Jensen not to land on the poor guy.

You can see the knee pads under the slacks of the guy Dean is tackling. I'm guessing he is to hit knees first, which will probably take most of his fall. Maybe they have a pad on the floor in front of him, too?
