We laughed and we talked and looked up at the stars. "I wished it was raining," he said. "I don't need the rain," I said. "I need you." Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (2023)

Red, White, and Royal Blue is the worst movie I've ever seen. It's the perfect movie. The original dialog is stupid. The original dialog is hilarious. It laughs in the face of the source material. The pacing is horrible. The pacing is amazing. The actors are beautiful. The actors look nothing like the book characters. They deleted June and Leo and Liam and Rafael Luna and gave us some weird little reporter boy. They say "History, huh?" In the museum scene. Alex knows he likes boys. Alex is still confused about liking Henry. It makes no sense. It makes perfect sense.
It's my favorite movie. Don't watch it.
Sums it up pretty well!
Red, white and royal blue movie was so disappointing…. Those two had zero chemistry… And literally the cutest part of them getting to know each other was cut out…

Chapter Three:
“What do you want?” Isak whispered once, late at night in bed. We were both lying on our sides, facing each other, bodies sated and growing heavier with each deepening breath. The evidence of everything that we’d wanted and done over the last hour was still there: on the flushed, mottled skin of my neck and chest; in the crescent-shaped marks Isak’s fingernails had left on my flanks; most of all in his eyes, sleepy and possessive and soft as powder down.
So I took it that he was asking in a philosophical rather than practical manner, but I still glanced down the long line of his gorgeous body just to check because with Isak, you never know.
“You,” I murmured, which was the correct answer to either question.
He laughed and rolled on top of me, folding his hands on my chest and resting his chin on them. His sharp hip bone pressed against a tender place on my lower belly, but I loved his weight, loved the feeling of his lean, strong body stretched out on top of me. I rested my hand in the small of his back to keep him close.
Isak kissed the corner of my mouth. “And what else do you want?”

I think Bridgerton should introduce a butch character. Picture a classic ballroom scene, couples dancing, people mingling, gossiping over the new Lady they heard has just moved into the area, who they hear has - gasp! - control over a large amount of finances, and then the doors open and in strides a woman. She is dressed in men's clothing. She walks with Confidence and Boldness. It is very "Darcy entering the ball" scene, everyone stopping and staring in shock and awe at this woman. A violin rendition of the "I could be a better boyfriend than him" song by Dove Cameron plays over her entrance while several women blatantly stare at her with Intrigue.

- Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020)
An extremely important film at a time like this when a women’s right to control her body, specifically her reproductive system is heavily reproached and denied.
TIL that the English word “Lord” in the sense of the head of an estate comes from an Old English word of Germanic origins, hlāfweard, later hlāford, later lord.
Normally I wouldn’t remark on my romps through etymology, but “hlafweard” is a compound of hlaf, or loaf, and weard, which means guardian (see also Ward or Warden, etc). Meaning that when you call someone a lord you are calling him an esteemed keeper of the bread.
HEY THERE BREADBOX PETER WIMSEY. LOAF GUARD PALPATINE. BREAD CLIP VETINARI.
Lady also derives from hlaf, but in this case hlafdige or bread kneader. She makes the bread, he monitors it. Women have to do all the work as usual.
Now, the reason I was looking this up was that I wanted to develop a gender-neutral analogue to lord/lady; there are analogues already out there naturally, but the Shivadh must be different and anyway I didn’t like the ones I’d seen suggested online.
Given that the origins of Lord and Lady aren’t all that strongly gendered anyway (they’re about what the person does, not what their gender is), I decided that if a woman is a bread-kneader and a man is a bread-guarder, a nonbinary person should be A BREAD EATER, which would be Hlafetan.
Thus I present to you the gender-neutral analogue to Lord or Lady: Ledan.
My inner word nerd rejoiced at this
‘Did Evak walk so Wilmon could run’ lol Evak were the true OGs. People often don’t realise HOW big Skam was if you weren’t watching it live in 2016/2017. It was easily as big and as international as Young Royals back then but the only difference is Netflix. If you create something for an international audience (Skam wasn’t meant to be) and you have the money and promotion Netflix has to throw at things it’s only inevitable it becomes big within its intended audience. Skam defied all the odds to become huge even when it wasn’t translated into English as first and wasn’t ever intended to be shown outside Scandinavia. That is way more impressive to me. More like ‘did Evak run for Netflix to jump on the bandwagon’. This is not a criticism to you, Young Royals or Lisa, just a critique of Netflix and big media companies
Couldn't agree more anon, believe it or not.
I love Evak with all my heart. Isak is my first child.
The question was mostly a joke and definitely not a rhetorical one. It was mostly in reference to the actual photoshoot because I think YR brought it up a notch.
On a serious not I agree. Evak really set a new standard when it comes to intimacy and it was so refreshing and heart warming to see. YR has for sure followed in it's footsteps.
I mean look at them
They invented nose rubs for goodness sake!
Skam for sure was revolutionary and I do think YR and other shows where influenced by it.
Young Royals definitely had the means to grow bigger and I think it has.
But it can never take away what Skam was. It was amazing and breathtaking and an unexpected force.
And Young Royals is similar yet so different.
I mean it when I say that I love both shows. I mean it when I say I love both Evak and Wilmon and I couldn't choose between and them.
Luckily we can have both
The cure to self-sabotage is to anchor yourself to the universal truth that you are worth it. you are worth the effort. you are worth the difficulty, you are worth the time, you are worth the consideration. there is never a point in your life, in time itself, that you are not worth it. return to this truth when you feel yourself slipping. do not let it go.
