Summary: Seto Kaiba's trip to the Afterlife reveals some deep wounds, and it turns out that his former rival, Yugi Muto, is the one who can best understand him... and help him heal. Set immediately post-DSOD.
I've put Mokuba through hell this past year. And longer, truthfully, Kaiba thought. That kid never deserved any of this. Especially having to run the company on his own while I fell apart.
But he had Mokuba to thank, too, for helping to pull him out of his misery. If it hadn't been for Mokuba finding Dr. Elmahdy... And he wasn't the only one who had brought light back into Kaiba's life. Unbidden, Yugi's face floated into his mind, and something occurred to him: what would Yugi think about the fake Atem?
...wait. Why does that matter? The truth was, he did know why, but that wasn't something he was ready to face just yet. Not ready to admit, even to himself, just how much Yugi Muto was starting to mean to him.
