001. violet is the middle child in her family, with one older brother and one younger sister, and she was often overlooked growing up. she was an easy child to raise, and she therefore didn’t demand as much attention as her siblings. which didn’t mean that she didn’t want said attention, though. 

002. violet was extremely close to her maternal grandfather, and it came as an enormous shock to her when he got alzheimer’s. the one family member who put her first was there, but gone in a way she had difficulty dealing with. in fact, it was so hard for her to see her grandfather that way, that she started visiting him less and less. then he died, and to this day, she still deeply regrets not being there more for him. it’s one of the reasons why she feels the need to help people so much. 

003. violet did cheerleading for a little while in high school, but stopped because she felt like she didn’t belong. high school was a difficult time for her, and she didn’t feel like she could compare to the other girls on the team. still, she was quite talented, and it disappointed her coach very much when she quit.

it was late on a friday, much later than she usually ventured out, but there had been an emergency call to her practice for a dog who accidentally ingested hot cocoa, and ellie simply couldn’t turn the family away, especially after seeing their little girl so distraught. thankfully, the lovable animal had responded well to the treatment and had been alert and acting much more like himself, so she was finally able to walk the short distance home to her apartment. of course, only a few blocks away, it started to pour something awful, causing ellie to duck into the first storefront that was open: a bar. it wasn’t often that she made her way out, especially to a crowded bar on a friday, so she awkwardly shuffled through the crowd to find a seat to wait out the rain. there seemed to only be one seat available, at the bar, thankfully at the end though next to someone. “scuse me, d’you mind if i take this seat? i’m just trying to wait out the rain.”

violet usually wasn’t one to go out on her own. whilst she enjoyed drinking, dancing and having fun, she usually preferred doing it surrounded by her friends, and so it was quite unusual to see the brunette sitting at the bar on her own. a glass of vodka soda in hand, she bobbed her head along to the music, and observed everything going on around her. fact was, she thoroughly enjoyed seeing the way people worked with one another. she loved seeing the heart eyes a girl was making towards another, and how dancers itched closer and closer to those they had been eyeing all night long. she loved seeing people loosen up as they drank more and more, and the way smiles got brighter and laughter got louder as the night went on. she was so absorbed in all of that, that she almost didn’t notice it when someone spoke to her. coming out of her reverie, she grinned and patted the empty seat beside her. “i don’t mind at all! rain is quite bothersome, so i completely understand. what’s your name, by the way?”
