First of all I would like to thank DJ Trix for collecting the best finials and helping me get into the club scene, I couldn’t have done this without him. Dirkie Coetzee and Chris Mels for always being such an amazing motivator and inspiring friend. I would also like to thank DJ Phil Styla and Sintilate for giving me so many opportunities to further my career, but mostly I would like to thank my “Mom and Dad and Pick n Pay.”

What We Say

Meeting Martin was quiet the experience, one of those interviews you would always refer back to , he is a very hyped up and active individual , career driven and very passionate not only about his music but about mostly everything he does in life, it was a good and motivating experience to come across someone with so much drive and excitement for not only his work but for life itself. Martin is a very outspoken individual and very demanding, but we have to give it to him, that he has his things in order and has more than the right to be demanding, he knows what he wants in life and what he needs

to be happy, though he does not wait for it to come to him, he makes it happen to himself. He enjoys talking about random subjects and has a great sense of humor. You will surely know him out of a crowd, id honestly say look for the loud , straight forward and random individual , the one standing at the bar and demanding to treat everyone to shooter. He is a very focused man , and knows where he is heading, I would not want to stand in his way , as he will indefinitely walk all over you if you try and stand in his way, I enjoyed his strong personality and great way of expressing himself, he is a loyal individual not only to his girlfriend but also to his work and responsibilities. Do yourself a favor, learn from him, as he will be able to teach you how to see the positive in any negative situation.

I have released 17 albums into the market and played internationally.

Been rated in the top 1000 DJs in the world 3 years in a row... My best position being 368th in the world.

FAVOURITE SPORTS / HOBBIES OTHER THAN YOUR MUSIC

Relaxing at home with my family and friends, shopping, fishing, keeping fit.

STRENGTHS:

1) I am very loyal to my friends and family.

2) I am very strong mentally and physically.

3) If I want something I do what I can to make it happen... I don't give up easily.

WEAKNESSES:

1) I am very gullible and always see the best in people even when they lie to me and have bad intentions.

2) I am sometimes quite stubborn when I feel that I am right.

3) I have a lot of ideas and I try to achieve all of them at once, and quickly... When sometimes I need to be more patient.

A lot has happened in the 16 years that I've been a DJ. I don't think I could've ever imagined I'd come this far... Even though my goal is to be one of the top 100 DJs in the world. I’ll get there someday :) one day :) step by step :)

I am very calm, unless someone messes with my work or betrays me. I am always positive, stable and fair. I love having good clean fun and I enjoy being spontaneous.

Making hit tracks, and touring the world with my family.

Being a good example to kids and people in general. Always being on your best behaviour in public. Help where you can and always be friendly and help the less fortunate.

Oppositions and/or competition are healthy. It keeps you on your toes and makes you try harder.

Approximately 8-10 shows... Sometimes more, sometimes less :)

WHAT IS YOUR SIGNITURE MUSIC STYLE AND WHY?

People know me by my funky sound, although I play deep and electro, there is always that bounce that people associate me with. I like happy music... You'll never catch me playing anything dark.

WHEN AND HOW DID YOU START?

I started in 1994 when I was 14. My brother DJ Morgan and I purchased equipment and just messed around at home until we eventually offered the clubs free graveyard sets just to get established.

DID YOU HAVE ANY PRIOR EXPERIENCE OR OTHER QUALIFICATIONS?

No, I was still in school when I started DJing.

WHAT DRIVES YOU IN LIFE

My passion drives me, also my family, love, music and I'm always striving to be positive and happy.

WHAT BREAKS YOUR SPEED IN LIFE

Negativity, carelessness, dishonest and dodgy people.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING IN OUR COUNTRY /YOUR COUNTRY WHAT WOULD IT BE?

It would be public the transport. There would be a lot less drinking and driving, accidents and road rage if at least 50% of the population could use public transport all day and night.

I am not very political at all.

WHAT IS YOUR SPIRITUAL VIEWS

I believe in a God, I believe in guardians and angels guiding us, and I believe in karma.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO YOU?

My baby boy was born a year ago. He is the light of my life!

WHAT MAKES YOU UNIQUE FROM OTHER ARTISTS

I am unique because I don't copy anyone, I do my own thing, I have my own style, sound and personality, and I am not afraid to be myself in every aspect of my life.

DO YOU BELIEVE FAME COMES WITH MONEY OR MONEY WITH FAME?

Neither. Just because you’re famous doesn't mean you’re rich, and vice versa.

WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL EXPLANATION OF FAME OR BEING A CELEBRITY?

It's when a lot of people know you for one specific thing that became a hit... Whether it's a song, a situation or a talent. People don’t really know the real you and often have unrealistic expectations of who they want u to be.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE MUSIC AS AN EXPERTISE?

Music chose me. I was born with it.

I played for free, I practiced all the time, I was part of the furniture at my favourite music venues, I was persistent with what I wanted, I had my own records store, I stuck it out for 16 years so far, I was hard working and dedicated to my passion.

ARE YOU MARRIED OR IN A RELATIONSHIP

Not married. Currently still single.

IF YOU HAD TO LEAD TEENAGERS OR YOUNG ADULTS WHAT WOULD BE YOUR FIRST PLAN OF ACTION ?

Teach them how to respect themselves and one another... Make them visualize their ultimate life, and make them understand that they can achieve it by taking the first step towards it and continue on that path with their goal in mind.

DO YOU ENJOY ATTENTION OR LIKE YOUR ALONE TIME?

I enjoy both. There is a time and place for everything.

February 2013 – Editors Letter

Hi Everyone! As you all know this is the month for Love as it is said, take time out of your day to remind your loved one that they are special too you , even if they aren’t really your own.

I got familiar with a new movie on the scenes lately, it’s a kiddies movie though , but something struck me about this movie, and I can’t seem to place it, the story revolves around the well being of our trees , but its shaped in such a way that even the faint hearted will be somewhat affected by it. Stunningly this story is focused on the kids and it astonished me that there are actually still Hollywood producers and writers with pure and healthy intentions out there, do yourself a favour this month and rent the movie The Lorax , you will not only have a good laugh, but you will share in the excitement and sense fullness of the story line and the outcome , it will really surprise you.

Due to some changes in the last month we are on the lookout for either sponsors, angel investors or business venture capitalists, to run our magazine , we are in dire need of finances , though we do have our loyal advertisers, these finances are used mostly for the design and publishing of their advertisements.

You will note that we have been absolutely blessed with a website domain, by Eugene Koekemoer, and have the luxury of hosting services and support; the team would like to thank him.

We have received a lot of positive feedback for all our freelance writers, and we are proud to say that they are the spirit and passion behind the scenes, I would like to thank them in advance for their participation and the vibe they establish when things get rough. It’s astonishing to note that there is so much talent out there, yet not enough support for the entrepreneurs of today.

This month we laid out the DIY section for the month of FEB to help you create the best gift, whether it’s for yourself or for your loved one. We would suggest it to be rather something usable or useful as a gift, rather than a teddy bear or some chocolates, these ideas are fruitful and will serve a purpose to remind them of you.

I surely hope you enjoy this month’s issue, take some time out to read our feature, Lady Lea will motivate you, her success is something we can all thrive upon.

January 2013 – Editors Letter

It’s the New Year and we are all back on track with our usual lives.

Last year was a gift for some people, and to others a nightmare, but each of us was given a gift of the New Year, how you enter into this year depends only on your own attitude and thoughts. I would like to share something with all of you. During the Festive season I started reading “ The Secret” and to me being a very spiritual person , this book really taught me so much , I entered the year with more positive thoughts than what I have ever had, the prove of the deliverance in this book’s strategy was to me personally an absolute shock. I tried the book out and tested their theories around the law of attraction and positive thinking, and to my amazement it worked. I applied at the Branson Centre for entrepreneurs , for a mentor and financial help and guidance, since I applied and started to believe that I will receive what I thought and believe in , and to my shock I received the call that I qualified for an interview with them, and that I can go an present the magazine to them. I was absolutely surprised at the quick feedback, and that the theories of the book actually worked. I would recommend this book to anyone that is absolutely desperate to get somewhere, and to get their businesses up and running in this year.

If you entered the year with the mindset of a negative and morbid person don’t expect more from life, but if you told yourself that this year things will only be better, then I can guarantee you it will.

January 2013 DJ Mac’E - Interview

2013 Issue starts out on a great new adventure. We start out the year with a fantastic Artist, someone you

may all find very free spirited and as real as an Artist can be. Fame is part of his living but meeting him in person,

you would start questioning your own opinion. This is no Boy this is a Man that makes things happen.

WHAT HE SAYS:

“ I want to be able to perform internationally , and hope to strike a spot in the Beat Boys competition hosted by Lady Lea,

only 10 candidates will go through, and I would like to be one of them”

Achievements, accomplishments

“ In 2011 I was the winner of the red square “who’s that dj” and I was awarded entertainer

of the year by United dj’s in 2012. I also got an award for the event of the year 2012 as well.”

Favorite sports / hobbies

“ I have always been very fond of endure / off road biking, I also have a passion for diving

and golf every now and then , depends what I feel like. But I would place Enduro before

most of the other sports or hobbies I enjoy”

Strengths and weaknesses

“ Sho, this is a difficult one – I find it difficult to judge myself hahaha, but lets see …. “ Moments of Silence”

“My strengths are that I’m a people’s person, I enjoy spending time with others whether its random

people or close friends and family , doesn’t matter , I love being with others . I am very time driven and

focused on always being on time, time management is very important to me. I’m also a very hard worker,

even though I enjoy my Dj’ing my day Job as a system Engineer is very important to me, I put in all my best efforts

, and work as hard as I can.”

“ My weaknesses are definitely the mere fact that I sometimes overload myself, I’m very impatient if things don’t easily go my way , or if I have to wait for something or someone when the neccity to wait was of no need. And one thing I completely hate and this is probably not necessarily a weak point but I can sometimes get nasty, I hate it when people repeat themselves over and over again.”

“ Well if I am chosen for the Beat boys group , I would like to put in as much effort as possible to grow with them . I would like to pursue the route to get more Johannesburg gigs , in the underground scene which will enable me to meet more people in the industry and this will also help me to find opportunities or the other way around.”

“ Personally I’m a fan of the olds school dance anthems , to me, making music is about bringing memories back , I want people to listen to my music and think back to their own good old days”

Did you have any prior experience or other qualifications ?

“Not at all, when I was as student in Potch , I started with the small but immensely busy clubs there, Bourbon street was one of the places where I played as a local”

what drives you in life

“ My stunning wife and our little angel pink feet girl , and also the crowd when my music starts”

what breaks your speed in life

“ This one is easy , Negative people gives me a cramp. I hate liars, and something that really throws me off my day , is old people and cars, I don’t see why they are still on the road….”

“ My little girl – Tenika”

if you had to lead teenagers or young adults what would be your first plan of action ?

“ I would encourage them to fist get something stable behind their names, finish school and their studies before you start to dj”

The year starts out with an immaculate individual, the time spent with him, was a very random experience. As open minded as he is , he is surely one focused family man, if I had to count the amount of times he took his wife and little on e into consideration when discussing his lifestyle and routine. The average interview would revolve around the music, but this one was different, he knows exactly how to divide his full attention equally between his career and family life, I was stunned . DJ Mac’E is definitely a people’s person, he made me feel as if I knew him for years, his heart is in the right place, he made the interview so much fun, that I ended up feeling as though I didn’t really work but just spent a good night out with a friend. After the Interview Mac ‘E included the magazine in most of his communication, and he made time to hear how things are going. This is surely an individual you want in your life, as a lifetime friend.

Politics and non-educators have changed our schools. They have turned them into businesses focused only on numbers and status. They have taken away the human component. Instead of teachers focusing on the well-being of the children, we have teachers forced to shove massive amounts of information down the throats of children who actually need love and nurturing. They have taken away the time to incorporate fun that kids need in order to develop a love for learning. Instead of doing all we can for our kids, we are told not to touch them…They are children. They need hugs and pats on the back. They need to know that it is okay to show affection and that there is an appropriate way to show it.

The Dehumanization of Education (via azspot) therefor I am focused on succeeding in this magazine, we provide to you, what the education systems of today barely offers.
