Hang on, I'm super confused right now. Do prisons/jails in Britain allow prisoners to have leave time? It sounds like he's saying he's basically on vacation...from jail?

You can have bail before the trial but after that nope, some prisoners are allowed to visit outside with supervision depending on behaviour and circumstances etc. though but they have to be back in by their curfew
