What would your advice be to someone who wants to RP Romania and it's their first time RP in a long time?
You came to the right blog, because Ro is my baby.
Ro is a pretty sunny guy, and a bit of a trickster. Remember that dead-eyed stare and brisk monotone from that one part of the anime he appeared in, when he explained the Magic Club activities? Hima himself said that’s Ro’s personal troll face of sorts, so you know the guy loves to joke around. We’ve also seen in canon that he and Bulgaria are pretty close buds, and he’s affectionate towards Moldova. And don't forget he and Hungary have some pretty heavy animosity towards each other.
Whether he’s actually a vampire or not is up to you. Personally, I think it’s another prank and the fangs are fakes he uses to scare the gullible, but if you prefer him being a genuine vamp, more power to you.

I got these within, like, five minutes of each other, so I'll just answer them both at once.
Ahem. Now, for regular Lithuania, I would say... Hm. Well, for one, he's not a total pushover crybaby. He had the guts to go find work at America's place for a while instead of suffering through a bad situation, and he was able to be on equal grounds with Poland in the Commonwealth. That said, he has a spine, but it's not made of iron. He is nervous around Russia, and understandably so. I don't think he stutters all that much, unless he's been startled, but if you do feel the need to make him stutter, particularly around Russia, don't go overboard and m-m-m-make h-him t-t-t-t-talk l-l-l-like th-th-this. One, it's inaccurate, two, it's annoying, and three, it's offensive to people who actually do stutter. That's three reasons not to type a stutter like that. AH-AH-AH!
That's really the main problem I see with Lithuanias. He's kind of hard to screw up. He's a pretty laid-back guy, for the most part.
Now, anon, as for your fem!Lithuania, I view her as being pretty similar to the male version: pretty amicable and down to earth, for the most part, with the obvious exception of when she's around Russia. Don't have her be a doormat, but not a brick wall, either.
I just want to offer something for Canada RPers: Canada is not a whiny crybaby. Hr may be a shy boy, but he kicked American ass in 1812, liberated Nazi Netherlands and held the line at Ypres, when chlorine gas was released. Please give him credit!

-SHORT COURSE IN BELARUSIAN HISTORY-
The country name, Belarus, literally means “White Russia.” Belarus has also been called Belorussia and Byelorussia, but only people who still wish for Belarus to unite with Russia still call the country by those names. The people who are proud of the independence of their country call the country Belarus.
The region that is now Belarus was first documented around 1,000 BCE. It was settled during the third century by Baltic tribes. The region actually did not become a part of Kieven’Rus until the ninth century. In the thirteenth century, the Mongols invaded the Russian principalities, but Belarus was able to evade it by being part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Belarus remained under the Grand Duchy from 1386 to 1795, when Belarus was taken over by the Russian Empire.
From the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, Belarus was able to have a brief period of independence for their country under the German occupation of their country. The country was able to rename itself the People’s Republic of Belarus. However, this was short-lived, as the Polish-Soviet War ignited immediately afterwards, and Belarus was torn between Poland and Soviet Russia.
A part of Belarus under Russian rule emerged as the Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1919. Soon thereafter it merged to form the Lithuanian–Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic. The contested lands were divided between Poland and the Soviet Union after the war ended in 1921, and the Belorussian SSR became a founding member of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in 1922. In the 1920s, agricultural reforms that culminated in the Belarusian phase of Soviet collectivization were set in motion. In the 1930s, the implementation of the Soviet five-year plans for the national economy led to rapid industrialization.
During World War II, the Belarusian people took control of the territories invaded by the Soviet Union on the 29th of October in 1939. Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941. The Brest Fortress, which had been annexed in 1939, at this time was subjected to one of the most destructive onslaughts that happened during the war. Statistically, Belarus was the hardest-hit Soviet republic in World War II and remained in Nazi hands until 1944. During that time, Germany destroyed 209 out of 290 cities in the republic, 85 percent of the republic's industry, and more than one million buildings. Casualties were estimated to be between two and three million (about a quarter to one-third of the total population), while the Jewish population of Belarus was devastated during the Holocaust and never recovered. The population of Belarus did not regain its pre-war level until 1971.
On the 26th of April, 1986, the Chernobyl plant in Ukraine blew up, taking out parts of Ukraine and Belarus. The accident actually affected Belarus more than Ukraine, since the winds that day blew about 60 percent of the chemicals into Belarusian soil.
On March 1990, elections for seats in the Supreme Soviet of the Belorussian SSR took place. Though the pro-independence Belarusian Popular Front took only 10% of the seats, the populace was content with the selection of the delegates. Belarus declared itself sovereign on 27 July 1990 by issuing the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic, and on the 25th of August, 1991, Belarus declared independence from the Soviet Union.
Again, this didn't tell us anything about the character. Try relating the different events to what effect they had on Natalya. It's more interesting, and develops your character further.
-SHORT SYNOPSIS-
Natalya is the youngest of the Ukraine-Russia-Belarus sibling trio. She’s pretty and very tenacious according to her brother, but it wasn’t always a good thing in the past. She appears to be a young girl nearing her twenties, but in reality she is a nation that is over 1,000 years old. She used to live in a house all by herself in her capital of Minsk, but now she lives in Odessa, Ukraine, with her fiancé Dmitri and their twins, Chelsava and Alkey. Her past is something that she would rather forget, but it still haunts her and causes her much internal pain very often.
Okay, so now we're in the meat of it. So far, so good.
-PERSONALITY-
Although Belarus is known as the last dictatorship of Europe, the people of Belarus are quite friendly to any visitors they get in their country. Natty is no exception to this. Although she may come across as cold and unfeeling at first, once she warms up to you she can actually be quite charming, even sweet if you give her a reason to be. She wants the best for her country and her people, thus she will be quick to see if you will be of help to them. Once she warms up to you, she will be the most loyal friend, ready to defend you no matter what. But if you ever backstab her or do anything to lose her trust, she will be quickly to hate you and hold a grudge, and it may take years for you to get back in her good graces.
I like this so far. You don't really see many Nats who don't take the psycho aspect and run with it.
As stated before, Belarus is known as the last dictatorship of Europe. Natty hates this fact more than she can ever say. She absolutely hates her president, believing him to be an arrogant prick who has a stick up his ass. She will always claim that she represents her people, not her horrible government. She is always the first to start up any riots for freedom for her people. She is very proud of her people and her culture, and she always fights to keep her culture alive. Although she mostly speaks Russian, not Belarusian, she fights also to keep her native tongue alive.
Natalya loves knives. Not swords, knives. This often leads people to believe that she's violent and blood-thirsty. But in all actuality, she’s not. She’s seen many wars and blood-shed in her lifetime, and she is tired of it. Rather, she uses knives because they are the only weapon that she can utilize properly. She can’t use guns because she’s a terrible shot, and she can’t aim to save her life. The Baltics used to be almost-victims of this fact. She won’t use swords because she claims that they are old-fashions and outdated; in truth, she won’t use swords because she gets annoyed that some of them are longer than her arms. Thus, she uses knives to defend herself. She trained for many years on how to properly use a knife, and she’s not afraid to whip it out if she ever feels threatened. At any given time she will have at least two knives somewhere on her person, so don’t sneak up on her or you may find yourself with a knife at your throat.
Over the years, certain circumstances have forced Natalya to calm down and mature (see Headcannon section). She no longer spends her days chasing after Russia and trying to force him to marry her, or terrorizing the Balitics or other countries. Instead, she now spends her days trying to help her country and her people, and also trying to build friendships and make alliances with other countries. But she does still have a temper, so don’t make her mad. Don’t insult her country, don’t insult her friends, don’t insult her family, and especially don’t insult her height. As long as you don’t do any of that, she’ll be civil to you.
Natalya loves all forms of the arts. Paintings, sculptures, music, dance, theatre; she loves it all. She loves to watch movies, especially the older ones. She is especially partial to ballet, since she took ballet lessons when she was a young girl still living in Russia. Her favorite ballet is Swan Lake, and one of her secret dreams is to dance the part of Odette. She is also a huge supporter of the Olympics, especially gymnastics and ice-skating.
Natalya used to be a big part of the UN, and due to this she is more than willing to make new friends. In fact, she longs for it. She wants more friends to be able to hang out and chat with. She already has some good friends, like Vietnam and the US Virgin Islands, and she treasures then with everything in her. She also has some male friends, such as Prussia, America, Germany, North Italy, Spain, France, England, etc. As a friend, she is very outgoing and friendly, always smiling and even laughing. So won’t you come please be her friend?
I like you. This is very well-done. You've clearly put a lot of thought into your Nat and how she behaves, she's well-rounded, and isn't a sociopath to put Elizabeth Bathory to shame.
-APPEARANCE-
Natalya has long almost-white platinum hair that goes down to her mid-back in waves. She has big dark blue eyes that stick out on her pale, thin face. Though she is on the shorter side, she is not a weak person. She has lean muscles, mostly in her legs and her arms. She is thin, almost to the point of being unhealthy, and she has small, delicate feet and hands. From the Chernobyl accident, she has been suffering from radiation cancer. Multiple faded cancer bruises are on and around her wrists and ankles, and there are also bruises on her hips and her tailbone. She has some stretch marks on her belly and abdomen from when she was pregnant with her twins, though her stomach is flat once again. She has additional scars from many wars and battles all over her body, though most of them are faded.
Very nice. I like how you handled the cancer bit. They're not over-the-top, but nothing you wouldn't notice without looking for it, either. She sounds like she could feasibly pass for a human who has lived through ups and downs, and I applaud you for making it realistic.
-HEADCANNON-
In her life, everyone babied Natalya. No one ever really got onto her about stuff that she did. Yes, Russia was scared of her and didn’t like her chasing after him, but he was never forceful about telling her to go away. Everyone just let her get away with things and have her way. She was selfish and spoiled, and she never really thought about anyone other than herself.
Then, on the 26th of April in 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine exploded, wiping out parts of Ukraine and Belarus. When she saw the devastation of those parts of the country and the despair it caused her people, something in Natalya’s brain clicked and she realized that she had to start caring about her country and her people more. This forced her to grow up and mature in a short amount of time. She began living in her house more, and she still tries to help her country cope from the effects of the accident to this day. She spent the next twenty years regularly visiting the places that were wiped out by the explosion to see if there was any way to make the land fertile again. She blames herself for the accident, saying that if she had paid more attention to her country and other countries she might have been able to prevent the accident.
In 1991, when Belarus declared independence from Russia, Natalya decided to give up on the idea of marrying Ivan. She knew that she would always be in love with him, but she thought that it would be best for both of them if she stayed out of his life. She left Ivan’s house, sad and lonely, with very little friends. Alfred saw this and took pity on her, and he invited her to come live at his house. She agreed, thinking that it was a chance to make more friends. …This only lasted for about six months, because Alfred annoyed the crud out of her and kept trying to hit on her. She left his house while they were still on good terms and moved back to her own house.
A few years after Chernobyl, Natalya began to notice that something was…different about her body, but she couldn’t place what. She decided to ignore it. Then, she began to notice random bruises appearing on her body, mostly around and on her wrists. She began to wear longer sleeves to try to cover them up. The bruises worried her, but she was still concerned with getting her country back to tip-top shape. From that point, her health slowly started to deteriorate. Her face became more thin and pale, and her eyes appeared to be sunken in a bit. She noticed that she got tired more easily, and that her strength wasn’t what it used to be. She became worried, seeing as it made her feel weak. Finally, in 2010, she went to see different doctors in her country. They all told her the same thing: the radiation from Chernobyl was finally affecting her body and she had cancer. This shocked her, and for a long while she refused to believe it. The next year, during the summer, she kept passing out from her body’s weakness, and she finally realized that she needed help. She went to Matthew (Canada) to see if he could help her, since she had heard that his country had one of the best medical care plans in the world. He helped her out, and she now had pills she has to take for the cancer, since she refused to have chemo because she didn’t want to lose her hair. After all of this, Natalya realized that she had to tell her brother and sister what was going on.

Oh, it was this beautiful character development. Carry on.
-GENERAL HEADCANONS-
Since Natalya is a nation, she, like all the other nations, is immortal. However, she can be damaged like a human, but if so much damage is done to her body, she can experience “death.” This means that Natty will appear to die (heart stops, breathing ceases, all that jazz) and she will remain like that for a few minutes. After that time has elapsed, her body will reconstruct and regenerate from the wound that killed her, but will leave her with all her other non-fatal wounds. Those she will have to recover from on her own. This makes dying a non-permanent, but painful and inconvenient thing. (Taken from Irina Chernenko.)

I tend to use the same phrases or wording over and over in a RP. This is just how I like to do things, to put emphasis on things and such. That, and I like to make everything sound flowy. ^^;
I like to use faces and stickers in OOC chat. And, on that note, I will ((these)) for OOC talk. I request that you use some form of brackets when you talk to me OOC so that I know it’s OOC. I make exceptions for certain people (sempai~).
Depending on the medium I will do either narrative style (ex. Natalya looked over her shoulder before hurrying across the room.), real-time style (*looks over shoulder before hurrying across the room*), or script style (Natty: Why am I hurrying across the room so sneakily?). Usually though my style will match yours so no worries.

Hey, there! You all can call me Sally. I’ve been role-playing for about six years now, and I have been in the Hetalia fandom for over a year now. I have many accounts, and I apologize if you ever get confused because of it. ^^;
Natty here was my very first muse for Hetalia. Why did I pick her? Well, I have a personal connection with the country of Belarus. Her name is Yana. She’s a girl that me and my family used to host during the summer through a program called Children of Chernobyl. The program took kids from Belarus (and Ukraine, I think) and brought them over to America during the summer so that the radiation from the Chernobyl nuclear explosion wouldn’t affect them, because the radiation is even worse in the heat of the summer.
I don't think this last paragraph was all that necessary, but it's still nice to know, and the information about the program is pretty cool.
Now, to tell you a few things about me:
-I am not a passive-aggressive person. I will tell you to your face if I don’t like something, and I won’t feel bad if you get butthurt about it. Sorry not sorry. I also tend to post stuff like that on my wall, too. Again, sorry not sorry if you get butthurt over it. But if you have a reasonable argument over something, please feeling free to engage me. I LOVE a good, innovating argument.

I don't know whether or not you'd be open to changing the name, but according to Behind the Name, the name Theresa didn't spread beyond Spain and Portugal until the 16th century, long after Alemanni was conquered by the Franks, and in that time, patronymics were the dominant custom for surnames- for example, the son of John would be Johnson.
Now, being as she's a nation, I can understand if she changed her human name over time to fit with current naming customs and fit in better.

You might want to rethink her weight. Judging by the picture, she's fairly muscular; I know muscle weighs more than fat, but not that much. I'm 5'3", I'm fairly average-sized, and I weigh in at roughly 110 pounds. I recommend taking a look at this- it not only has a calculator for ideal weight based on height, but also provides a handy chart for fluctuations based on frame.

I don't think it's possible to be both. Pick one, or go into more detail. Is she the human reincarnation of a dead country?
Oh, and only foreigners called them Alemanni. They called themselves Suebi. Food for thought.

Go with dark blue. Violet eyes are impossible except by color contacts or a trick of the light.
She's very strict and motherly, in a matriarchal sense. Very adoptive. Literally babies anything that lets her. Theresa is also very, very powerful-- Under that chub, she's got a shitton of muscle. She's not very.. Agile though, so she has to take the brunt of every hit she takes.
Okay, good idea with the weakness. I like it. And it's a nice change from all the ultra-fast but weak characters that litter both published and fan-made media.
Theresa's outfit is sort of similar to the way Italy's looks, with a black dress shirt underneath. She rolls up her sleeves in warmer temperatures, and keeps them down in colder. Her boots are steel-toed, just in case it comes to where she actually has to kick someone straight up the block. Casually, however, she wears a white tank top with black sweats.
If she's a dead nation, wouldn't it make more sense for her to wear armor or something else similar to what the Alemanni people wore? Rome wears the classic Roman armor that screams badass (even if he himself is a giant dork), and Germania is a non-elf Legolas. Wouldn't Alemanni be the same?
Theresa normally carries around a pocketknife with her at all times, occasionally swapping it for her trusty pistol.
She was technically birthed in what is now present-day Rombach-Le-Franc, Alsace. Theresa's hopped from city to city, over the borders and back, even hiding in Italy a few times. She currently resides in her hometown.
How are you 'technically' born somewhere? Like this? "Oh, yeah, she was born here, but I know some paper dead guys who say otherwise."
Born into a role of leadership, Theresa was always a very family-oriented girl. She stuck close to her father, never strayed from family tradition, and even went so far as to catch her father's breakfast to please him. She was very innocent, kind, and loving. Eventually, she came to meet a boy named Adalric-- A dark blonde, tan little boy, who represented those who are known as the Frankish Empire. They clicked, and she considered him one of her best friends. He, however, fell in love with the girl, and expressed it thus by giving her gifts of flowers, love letters, and the adorable gesture of holding hands. They grew even closer, and she found herself married to him within a matter of years. She became pregnant, and gave birth to her first child, Gilbert-- Who was destined to become the Kingdom of Prussia. She took care of the household as Adalric gained the food, and all was well. However, she was left to fend for herself after the wars between herself and Rome became tough.
When did Rome get here? Hi, Rome!
I think you should mention the wars a bit earlier, so the reader knows that there are wars going on before you drop it on them that the wars were getting tough.
Adalric turned his back on her, and left her to die, along with her son, without realizing her pregnancy with who would later become the great republic of Germany. Things went from bad to worse, and they got into a large confrontation, resulting in her near-death. Rome, however angry he may have been, took pity on the young girl, and scooped her up to shelter her until she got back up on her feet. However, it would never happen. Theresa's country was completely dissolved into the Frankish empire, and she hid out in Rome until she could find some way of living. As a result, her country title, in 1268, was revoked and she was given the treatment of the lifespan lengthening. (Theory.) Her dissolve gave birth to what would later become Switzerland, and Liechtenstein, who she considers her own children.
The rest of that seems pretty on the level. You might want to go into more depth about that theory, though, and maybe break up the whole history section into more paragraphs to make it easier to read.
Theresa will take no sass from her children, and will assert her dominance forward. However, she is kind, considerate, and even loving if one gets close enough. Although, considering her prominent instincts, it doesn't take much.
Her strengths, both mentally and physically, include: Fighting, examination, and interpretation. However, weaknesses include agility, stamina, and bipolar disorder-- if you consider that a weakness.
Hold up.
It would have been nice to actually see evidence that she has bipolar symptoms. I have an episodic mood disorder, and it's not just something that pops up when it's convenient; it's always there, and I fight it every day. You need to do some serious research on bipolar, and incorporate it into the rest of the profile, or just don't have it at all.
Family includes Germania being her father, Rome being her 'adoptive' father, Sweden and Austria being her brothers-- While children include, from oldest to youngest, Prussia, Germany, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. She has also adopted a certain Heracles, and one Kemal (TRNC, belonging to a friend.)

I don't have much experience with this character, but I know that canon shows she's the type to solve problems through violence. I suggest going with a personality similar to Alfred's, with obvious tweaks here and there. Remember that the Nyotalia and regular versions are similar but still their own characters, and you should be fine.
Oh, and whether her boobs are real or not is totally your call.

Hi! I usually like reading more Hetalia stories than anything, but occasionally I browse the Hetalia roleplay world. And sometimes I don't want to go back. People just base their stories and rps from the show, and theirs a whole comic that they could get some fresh ideas. I like the angst side of Hetalia, especially eating disorder!America, but people take them too far. What are some examples you have seen where people take things to far in either stories or roleplays? Like the blog by the way!!
I personally can’t think of anything beyond this one time on my Norway account where some Denmark ended up raping him because their mun wanted smut even though my Nor kept saying that he didn’t want to have sex with him, he was in a relationship, stop it. It was really early into my RP career, so I didn’t think to just drop it and go do something else. I was, like, a high school freshman, I had no idea.

Okay, let's see here. Spain isn't one of the main eight, but still a major character, so you'll have to be a bit more careful than you would with a minor character like one of the Nordics or Mediterraneans. So, here are some basics:
He's a bit absent-minded, yes, but not a total fucking moron, no matter what Lovi would have you believe.
He's not all tomatoes all the time. Just don't.
'Fusosososo~' is not his laugh. It's a cheer-up charm.
He's a pretty cheerful guy. He was thrown into war and poverty, and he still managed to be optimistic.
He seems to be good with kids, or at least the Italy brothers.
If he drinks wine, he gets sentimental, but he's a scary-ass drunk. As in, Sweden changes his facial expression when he sees Spain drunk.
Half of those I found on the archive, so you can look there for a little more help if you need it. Other than that, that should be some pretty decent guidelines.

Don't worry pal, it hasn't! Now, Turkey, hm, Turkey... avoid Thanksgiving RPs with Americas I'm sorry, I'm sorry, that was stupid, I'm sorry.
For Turkey, I'd recommend being laid-back and friendly, but a little grumpiness here and there is probably okay- he is pretty old in canon, and I see him as being Not a Morning Person™ anyway. Remember that he has a definite rivalry/dislike/something along those lines with Greece! That's important! Being all lovey-dovey and OOC in the name of a ship is not good.
Other than that, since Turkey is a minor character, I think you have a little leeway in your portrayal. Have fun, hope that helped!
