OKAY! Attempting this again!
So how Iâm going to handle this is to talk about each character and their roles, etc, separately.
Because, like, we all know this was NIGELâS movie, and the otherâs had pretty small roles in comparison, some more than others.
Hoagie- I would strongly argue that heâs one of the biggest heroes in this movie. While the movie was about how âeveryone in a team is importantâ and stuff, Hoagieâs modified Birthday Suits really were the key to the success of sectuh V here. Quite simply, they wouldnât have come out victorious if not for Hoagie. BONUS he told a bunch of puns. We love you, Gilligan jr.
Kuki- Unfortunately, when you really look at it, she didnât do much of anything. She graced us with her wonderful presence and was cheery and cute, but she and Wally never actually finished their mission. The two of them went to the treehouse and were very quickly citizombified. I would say, the movie probably confirmed that she reciprocates Wallyâs feelings, but I would have liked to see more characterization that didnât have to do with her relationship with a boy, even if they are my OTP.
Wally- Okay, here we have something, not much, but something. Iâve made a post about this before, but I think the fact that we see him at his absolute most vulnerable is very important. He says âIâm scared, I donât know what to do nextâ, and thatâsâŠincredibly noteworthy. I mean, as Iâve also said before, the last few seasons showed a trend of Wally getting more and more emotionally open, which I think was great. This was probably the epitome of that. Like Kuki, though, he doesnât finish his mission, so thereâs not much else to day other than likeâŠ..I think his reaction to Kuki asking him to kiss her was extremely cute.
Abby- Same problem as Kuki, even more so in fact. Sheâs the first member of sectuh V to be citizombified, and that means we donât see much of her at all. What we do get, is seeing her have to be Mamma Bear with the others, especially Nigel, in trying to save him/ point out his character flaws.
Nigel- Where to even begin with him? This was HIS movie, which is fine, heâs the main character after all, and he had a lot to work out. Seriously, his character development in the movie is WONDERFUL! Like, other than finding out MAJOR PLOT STUFF about his family, he learned a very important lesson: the KND is about community, first and foremost. Itâs about friendship, unity, strength in numbers, cooperation. His tacky yet poignant âWe. Are. KND.â at the end of the movie sums this up very well, and I think itâs a beautiful message. I love seeing how Nigel is always portrayed as a seriously flawed character, even after the movie though. He has a heart of gold of course, itâs just sometimes heâs too stubborn and impulsive. Heâs an independent thinker, which is good, but heâs also obsessed with control, and that combination means that he likes riding solo, even when thatâs not a good idea.
Other notes- I think itâs interesting to watch op ZERO after knowing that Chad was in the TND all along. Like really. Watch him. Just at the perfect moment, he releases Nigel, who he was holding hostage. Itâs played off as that he just doesnât want to become a senior citizombie, but knowing what we know now, I see VERY different motives in him.
Also, talking about numbuh 0 and Fatherâs true identity is probably too much for me to handle, but I will say, the father/son love between Nigel and his dad absolutely destroyed me in op ZERO.  ESPECIALLY THAT HOLOGRAM AT THE END???? ME FEELS.
