I think the show "Daria" did sort of treat Trent a little bit unfairly at times. I also don't believe he and Daria could ever get together in the first place considering he's in his EARLY 20's during the course of the series and also sees Daria as another younger sister. That being said, Trent was the one older sibling to actually try his best to take care of Jane in a household FULL of severely neglectful adults and had to be the person she could rely on both emotionally and physically while also having to try and take care of himself in the process. (He got parentified ngl) He was also behaving the way a normal ass 20-23 year old would so I'm giving him some kinda slack for being a bum who doesn't got enough money. (You demean him as a teen until you turn like 18-23 and end up becoming him HDIHEHD 💔🥀) Also, I genuinely think he sabotaged the project On Purpose during "Jane's Addition". He's been shown to cover for either Jane or Daria numerous times throughout the series and subtlety encourages them to communicate with one another when they're upset with either each other or anything else bothering them in the moment. He definitely Did That Shit On Purpose just so Daria and Jane can talk about their feelings regarding Tom idc what people say. He's a lot smarter than most people give him credit for (sometimes) and the series has shown it quite a bit as well.

Yeah, he does have his flaws as well, but ngl he also needed SOME sort of structure in order to actually achieve the goals he had set in mind (and also therapy probably).
