Why do you dislike the XX vocals? We are NOT forgiving this shenanigain
(have you posted the original XX ost, though? And the korean version?)
This is probably going to be the longest thing I've ever written on this blog, but here we go.
I will start by saying that I fully believe in artistic expression. Most vocal tracks are good. I love a fire cover.
The albums are... hm.
Now, I'm not deep enough into the backends of things to know for certain, but according to the GG Wiki, the Guilty Gear XX in L.A. Vocal Edition (at the very least) was put together in a week with lyrics derived from the GGX Rising Force of Gear Image Vocal Tracks that were tooled to the singer's strengths, all recorded in one night. The singers themselves didn't really know GG itself, they just had some creative materials given to them to work with and supposedly had fun with it.
From my perspective, however, it resulted in something lifeless that didn't have the care of that rises to the level of what I expect from a Guilty Gear track. The lyrics are, to be kind, stilted and the overall feel of most of the tracks makes it feel like a bunch of guys giving half-hearted attempts at covering (in my personal opinion) some of the best tracks in gaming.
Perhaps they're a product of the time period. Maybe there's more to it. I don't know. What I do know is that while they may have given it their best shot within the constraints, I do not personally care for them given what I know and appreciate as a GG fan.
In summary: these shenanigans will not be forgiven.
(And yes, both XX and the Korean versions have been posted. You'll have to dig through the blog for them, though, as I think the tags shat themselves in my absence.)
