RIFF OF THE DAY: Krysta Rodriguez “It Won’t Be Long Now”

For today’s Riff of the Day, we turn to Krysta Rodriguez (”In the Heights,” “The Addams Family,” “SMASH,”), who will be playing Ilse in the upcoming revival of “Spring Awakening.” In the following video, Krysta performs “It Won’t Be Long Now” from the Broadway musical “In the Heights.” While we love Karen Olivo in this role, Krysta is so vocally stunning as Vanessa! Enjoy.

Casting Announced for In The Heights

Casting has been announced for the new production of In The Heights which is due to open at the King’s Cross Theatre from the 3rd of October. The production is set to run for  a strictly limited period of four weeks, and closes on the 1st of November. 

Sam Mackay will be leading the cast in the role of Usnavi, and the role of Vanessa will be played by Jade Ewen. They will be joined by:  David Bedella - Kevin Josie Benson - Camila Victoria Hamilton - Barritt - Daniela Sarah Naudi - Carla Eve Polycarpou - Abuela Lily Frazer - Nina Antoine Murray - Straughan - Graffti Pete Joe Aaron Reid - Benny Cleve September - Sonny.  The cast will also feature Jocasta Almgill, Courtney-Mae Briggs, Michael Cortez, Gabriela Garcia, Reiss Hings, Alexandra Sarmiento and Spin.

Hamilton creator and headliner Lin-Manuel Miranda has taken Broadway by storm as the hip-hop tuner generates buzz well beyond the Great White Way. ...

Miranda credits the turnaround to Universal Pictures’ concern that there was no major Latino star attached to the film. “That’s Hollywood being scared,” explained Miranda, “and that’s everyone there having to answer to somebody else. And one of the things I learned was, the less money that’s involved, the more power you have.”

In The Heights Window Card

I am in search of a window card/poster from the musical In The Heights! I am a huge fan, and it’s impossible to find. (The only one I’ve seen is signed by the whole cast and $200.)

I am willing to purchase this item, as long as it is a reasonable price. The poster will be going to an ardent theater lover, and will be hugely appreciated!
