Did he mention Mr. Bingley? No … no, he did not.

Time is a great healer. Or so, at least, I am told…
Okay so I’m almost 100 pages into Persuasion and the Most Romantic Moment in Austen Canon that never shows up in any adaptations is when Wentworth quietly and efficiently removes a screaming toddler from Anne’s back, because when you think about it, at this point they can barely even talk to each other yet but she’s stuck in this regency gown that doesn’t let you lift your arms over your head or that far behind you so this kid is not coming off any way but by entreating his underdeveloped sense of empathy (because toddler), there was no give in the shoulders to pry him off at all, and Wentworth bails her out like what a Hero™.
It is bewitching to think one’s happiness depends on one person.
Nothing destroys spirit like poverty.
