BWW Feature: Casting Announced for JERSEY BOYS at STAGES St. Louis

STAGES St. Louis has announced the casting for their upcoming production of JERSEY BOYS that will play September 24 – October 24, 2021 at The Ross Family Theater in the new Kirkwood Performing Arts Center. The cast will be headlined by Christopher Kale Jones who is best known for playing Frankie Valli in the 1st National Tour of JERSEY BOYS. With a book written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, JERSEY BOYS takes an exhilarating journey into the cultural phenomenon that is Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. The show features 30 show stopping performances of the hits that took the group all the way to the top of the charts, including: “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.”

The 87-year-old “Jersey Boy” talks about why he keeps singing. And why getting played by Nick Jonas is a good thing.

Q: "Jersey Boys" was not an easy story to tell, right, and I'm wondering, is there any part of that [2014] movie and [2005 Tony Award-winning] musical in the story itself that you just sort of wish was still a semi-secret history? Or are you happy that's all out there now?

A: I am happy that it is. And something really incredible is happening right now. “Jersey Boys,” the play, is being filmed for television, and Nick Jonas is playing the Frankie Valli role. I’m very excited about it.

Q: And the "Jersey Boys" movie. Which Clint Eastwood directed.

A: The film I do not like at all.

Q: Why?

A: I don’t think it was cast properly and I don’t think it was done properly. The whole entity was not put together properly.

According to Baz Bamigboye of The Daily Mail, Mountview graduate Ben Joyce will make his West End debut leading the cast as Frankie Valli. The shoes of the Four Seasons will be filled by Benjamin Yates as Tommy DeVito, Karl James Wilson as Nick Massi, and Adam David Bailey as Bob Gaudio.
