AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Preach, Carli.
The Magnificent Seven were my version of the 99ers. I remember being 6 years old and watching Kerri Strug’s final vault from my living room after begging my mom to let me stay up way past my bed time. I remember going to the US Gymnastics Celebration Tour at Nassau Coliseum and wearing my Team USA leotard to gymnastics practice pretty much every day. I remember rewatching Dominique Moceanu’s “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” floor routine over and over again until the tape in the VHS was worn down. This was NINETEEN years ago today and I still get chills thinking about it. I feel so unbelievably lucky to have grown up during a time with so many amazing and inspiring female athletes. Words will never be able to express how I felt about this team and what they did for me growing up. There has been a narrative throughout this past month that conveys the message that seeing successful female athletes lets little girls know that they can be the future Kerri Strugs and Carli Lloyds of the world. But it is so much more than that. It is also about girls like me who were never athletic, but were really good at math and science and who never for one second thought that they were any less capable than the boys in their classes because they grew up seeing badass women doing badass things and never apologizing or diminishing their own success. And that is truly magnificent.
Sharing from my personal blog because The Magnificent Seven won the USA’s first Olympic gold medal in gymnastics 19 years ago today and I’m having a lot of feels.
@mrapinoe Everything is better with my main squeeze😍👯. #ESPYS @seracahoone
Get it, girl!
The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and FOX Sports announced an agreement to televise 10 NWSL games during the current season. As part of the deal, FOX Sports 1 will air three regular-season matches and all three games of the NWSL Playoffs. In addition, four regular season matches will be available on tablets and mobile devices via the FOX Sports GO app and online at www.FOXSportsGO.com, beginning Wednesday, July 22.
If you have any way of contributing to ratings, PLEASE watch as many games as you can. Watch them live. Record them and watch them again. Tell your friends to watch.
The only way the NWSL is going to grow is if it shown to be financially viable. A broad cast deal is a huge step. If they have high enough ratings they will most likely sign a deal for next years season which would be a huge boost for womens soccer, as it is currently being shown on youtube for free.

Every member of the team with their own cover for Sports Illustrated
Almost every NWSL player started with a dream to play at the highest level. The NWSL needs to survive so the next generation has a place to live out its dreams. That survival starts with the fans. Watch a game. Talk about it. Write about it. Scream about it from the rooftops. Women’s soccer is here. It’s been here. Let’s keep it here.
More to women’s soccer than just World Cup by Tiffany Weimer (via tpinoe)
Carli Lloyd speaks out on sportswriter Andy Benoit’s sexist tweet that said, “Not women’s soccer…women’s sports in general not worth watching.”
“I think that what we do out on the field is oftentimes a little bit better than what men do.” FUCK YEAH, CARLI. This is so important. Women always seem to be expected to give kudos to men even if/when they don’t deserve it.

Queen.
This is a very not real problem but
I got a ticket to the reserved seating at City Hall for tomorrows USWNT parade, but you have to show up by 10:30 (ceremony starts at 1) and it appears that you don’t actually get to watch any of the parade. I feel like I’d almost rather just be in the crowd and watch the parade, but maybe I’m being an idiot. Any thoughts?
I’m running on way too little sleep to make this decision. What do you guys think?
