Intro ig?

Well, I'm Nevi, Nev, Nayu, Jason fan (whatever you wanna call me is fine ^^ )

I go by she/her and I'm studying psyc and I use what I learnt to talk about Jason or the batfam (because what else would I be doing with this knowledge lol)

This blog is solely about Jason Todd (or things in my life). I mainly reblog posts, but I sometimes write mini one-shots :3

I also have an AO3 account: Nayuyu18 (I post my oneshots from here on there, and have a few other fics on there that isn't on here)

Oh and also, if you want to find my oneshots, search the #Jason Todd hashtag on my blog and it'll have all of them up (and a few posts I reblogged or my rants on things related to him ^^ I swear I'll go back and tag all of them with like fic writing or smth to make it easier)

I'm also anti (both canon and fanon, but especially fanon) Bruce, Alfred, and Tim.

I do not like them, and with each passing day my hatred grows. Do not tell me that Bruce is justified in abusing Jason (and his other kids), do not tell me that Alfred is a saint or is a good grandparent.

I despise Tim, even the mention makes me irritated. Especially his fanon ver, if I'm shitting on Tim, assume it's about fanon Tim unless stated otherwise.

And yes, I'm hypocritical with how I treat Jason, but at least I admit it.

My fav tropes is:

- Jason and Damian meet at the LOA

- Angel Jason,

- Immortal Jason

- Jason with parents (e.g. the Todd's, Talia, Diana, Pamela and Harley, etc etc, anyone not Bruce)

- Anything angst related comic or otherwise (e.g. batarang incident, rhato #25, the memorial case, suicidal Jason Todd)

- Competent Jason (being a master strategist and using this to his disposal to get the upper hand)

- And etc

My least fav tropes is:

- The fanon Titans tower incident

- Any fics that portray Jason as incompetent with only brawns with no brain

- Fanon good parent Bruce / Bruce is trying

- Lonely/abused Tim (bsffr)

- 4-8 yr age gap between Jason and Tim (or any Tim glazing with infantalising him)

- Jason reintegrating into the fam by comproising everything about himself while the others don't do shit and still act the same as before or feel 'remorse'

- Jason having to put other people's feelings before his despite Jason being the victim (absolute bullshit)

- Alfred being the only person at the manor Jason likes and listens to

- Any victim blaming bullshit (when it isn't addressed)

- And so many other things.

Hot Boy Willis Todd you will always be famous!!! (Pretty Jason i love you)

Also I will not let people forget that Willis had only non-violent offenses and was jailed ultimately to take the fall for Two-Face.

Loving father Willis Todd is canon. He loved that boy with all his heart, wrote him letters and wanted the best for him.

I just know that's who Jason considers his father, because for all this past offences, Willis would not stand for anyone hurting his little boy.

My personal lil AU is when jason comes back, and he's building his crew, Willis is alive and out, and hears good things about RH so he goes, hoping to work books or logistics and when RH sees him, he freezes. And then pulls him aside and reveals himself or sumn and Willis just takes him into his arms. I have no direction for this in my head besides Jason getting a supportive Willis back in the throws of his post-resurrection pain

I was taking a break from writing my fic and started reading something where Jason (as Red Hood pre-reveal) says something really self-deprecating about his time as Robin and Steph starts arguing with him and says something along the lines of “He wasn’t just another stupid Robin he was our Robin, he was our hero!” 

And I just started thinking about how Crime Alley reacted to Robin’s death.

No one knew he had died, just one day another kid showed up wearing his colors and fought alongside the Bat calling himself Robin.

Of course, there were rumors, most people assumed he had just “grown out” of Robin and decided to make a name for himself elsewhere, or maybe he’d been fired from Robin, I mean they’ve seen Batman scold him for being “too rough” with criminals so maybe he had been let go because of conflicting morals with the boss and was currently living a totally normal life right now.

But the people of Crime Alley weren’t stupid. They had spoken to Robin, and could hear the thick alley accent that curled around his words. They saw the way he talked to working girls; not like criminals or a tool to get information about crooks but like people, like he was speaking to an older sister or a particularly stubborn auntie.

He would regularly patrol through the Alley and he was a symbol of hope. He was living proof that you could make it out, that you too could be Robin someday.

Then Willis’ kid was on the news. 

A field trip gone wrong.

An explosion.

No survivors.

Bruce Wayne was on the front page of the Gotham Gazette giving a tearful interview about Catherine’s boy. How he failed his son, how he had offered to take the boy in to give him a good life and he had failed.

Batman never patrolled through the Alley anymore.

The people of Crime Alley never wanted him to.

If you were to take a stroll through Crime Alley you wouldn’t see a bat insignia in sight. There would be murals of a boy with black hair, a yellow cape, and a golden R. A boy with his fathers grin, his mothers heart of gold, and a scar across his nose from the time he fell off of Ms. Coleman’s porch trying to help a cat that had climbed into a nearby tree.

The Alley kept his secret just as he kept many of theirs and every year on April 27th they plan to prove that his legacy didn’t die in Ethiopia alongside him.

The Alley Boys offer to fix the air conditioners or the plumbing for any working mothers in need. 

Stevie is cooking up some free food to pass out for the day from the back of his father's Bar & Grill. His Pops drinks a Coke and tells stories to the kids about one of the smartest damn kids he ever got the pleasure of meeting that would sit near the cash register eating pie with a book splayed open on his lap during his Pa’s shift in the kitchen. 

The waitresses at Melissa’s diner hand out old newspapers with stories of the second boy wonder sprawled across the pages to go with your morning coffee and reminisce about how sweet Cathy’s little boy was when she needed Melissa to babysit him during her morning shift.

On April 27th all crimes on Crime Alley will cease and they’ll mourn someone who was more than just another kid on Crime Alley.

He was Robin.

He was Jason Todd.

This panel is so important to me. But aside of the obvious (that Jason mourned both of his parents; father, too, since Bruce grew distant, making him ache for the only people that were his family from the beginning), I also love the implication that Jason spoke with Alfred about his family even prior to that.

It is obvious that Bruce didn't at all, but Alfred says "avoids talking about his family lately", which means that he easily did it before.

I wonder if Alfred was the only person, aside Jason, who bore memories about Catherine and Willis before they become tragedies. If Jason told him that in the better days, before cancer, addictions and even bankruptcy, Catherine read his all kind of books she liked herself. That Jane Austen was her favourite, and it was no surprise that Jason loved her nowadays too, almost religiously so. That before things went down to the south, Willis did maths homework with him, eyes squinted at pages (his sight got worse with the years, but he refused to buy glasses) as he instructed Jason on how to resolve this equation, a faint memory of his own youth coming in lazy waves. How they took him to the walks around Gotham, to the amusement parks, and even circus.

I wonder if sometimes Jason visits Alfred on Catherine's death anniversaries, because though Alfred didn't know Catherine Todd, he knew what kind of the person she was. And this is better than nothing; better than people only remembering her as a victim of OD.

Why do they deserve to win?

"...that time in UtRH he nuked Dicks city" This is FALSE. Slade is the one that nuked Bludhaven. "Ribbed Bruce about it" This DID HAPPEN, but isn't really sibling behavior when the target is Bruce (notably not a sibling.)

"He tried to kill he brother and his other brother and his other brother" This is PARTIALLY TRUE. Jason attempted to kill both Tim and Damian in BTFC, but at no point did he make an attempt on Dick's life.

"He is actually awful to [...] younger heroes. He kidnapped speedy and blew up her school." While the bit regarding Mia Dearden is TRUE, a single example does not a pattern make. Additionally, this bears no relevance to how he treats his siblings! Mia is not his sister! "Offered Tim to get a beer with him. Tim was 16." While TRUE, Jason was also underage. Additionally, I would argue this is actually great brother behavior. What is the point of siblinghood if you aren't breaking laws with them?

"...otherwise shot Damian in the spine." This is FALSE. While Jason did shoot Damian in the chest in BFTC, it was Flamingo who shot Damian multiples times in the back during Batman and Robin.

"The killings" were not about his siblings, although the "attempted fraticide", as previously mentioned, did occur. "There's also that nonsense with his older brother's friends and whatnot." This is a point that should be entirely disregarded.

"Slit Tim's throat in Hush." This is FALSE, that was Clayface, Loeb intended for it to be Clayface and disagreed so hard with Winick retconning it into Jason, that he came back 20 years later to write H2SH and re-retcon it into being Clayface. Even if we were to presume that was Jason, the bleeding from the cut was easily controlled, did not immediately need stitches, and was in general not life threatening.

"Not a good brother for dick, tim, cass nor damian tbh." This DEPENDS ON THE ERA but also Jason never did anything to Cass.

"has tried to kill his adoptive siblings multiple times" This is FALSE, although there is some leeway depending on how you interpret the phrase. While Jason has tried to kill multiple adoptive siblings (Tim and Damian,) he has not tried to kill any single one of them more than once.

Various other points are repetitive, too vague, true, or irrelevant.

rambles/musings on jason & killing people & why

under the hood & lost days jason killing people is ultimately less about whether they "deserve it" & more... would killing this person be useful/beneficial? killing ego stops him from trafficking children, killing the drug lords' lieutenants is an extremely effective & convincing demonstration that get them to heel, killing black mask's henchmen puts pressure on him that ultimately leads to him decimating his own empire.

in under the hood you can argue it's because jason is focused on a goal; of course he's not going out of his way to kill people who "deserve it," he doesn't have time for that. but in lost days it's primarily to prevent future harm. that trainer would have killed her family if jason didn't stop her, & that dealer selling poisoned drugs can't continue doing so because he's dead.

the joker's the only person that jason really seems to argue deserves to die for what he has done in the past, & even then it's less "the joker deserves to die" and more "you (bruce) should have killed him." & even then the conversation carried the implication of "the joker kept killing people after i died. why wasn't i enough for you to care?"

everything with the joker is personal, in a way that jason killing other people isn't.

i digress. this all makes me think back to what jason says about egon: "i didn't 'murder' him. you murder people. i... put this reptile down." it's a very dehumanizing thing to say! this reminds me of the practice of euthanizing animals that attack humans, both wild & domesticated. it's not the animal's "fault" and it's not a punishment because they "deserve it," it's merely because if they've attacked a human before there's a higher chance they will again.

if that's the mindset jason's running around with, then it makes sense that "this is a bad person who deserves to die" does not enter his thought process at all. punishment is not part of the equation.

I am certain that DC would snipe me for this but I'm of the opinion that Jason was the best Robin at being Robin. I don't care how iconic Tim was or how much influence he had on the modern perception of the character, I think Jason was the best Robin Bruce has ever had in terms of their actual partnership

Honestly if you think about it, it makes sense for Jason to not be buff straight out of the Lazarus pit but then is buff later on. Because he's still a teenager when he gets dumped. What the Lazarus pit does (for me at least) is make it so that Jason can reach his full 'genetic potential' (I can't think of any other words rn sorry 😭), like he's no longer restrained by malnutrition from his childhood, so when he trains and eats, he can grow and gain muscles. Because he's still at the age when his body can grow and develop.

Like, I love me some buff Jason, but little teenager Jason fresh from the pit is also smth I love and should be more common cause c'mon he's still a fucking teenager when he's dumped in the pit
