Nishijima: “The first time I heard the song, it occurred to me that if we could do it as a duet it would be even better. And then there were the lyrics, which brought to mind those scenes in dramas where people in our generation are really looking for that special feeling, which is why we called it “drama”.
Uno: “I remember thinking, “As a woman, this really does cover all the things I want to say, doesn’t it?” The lyrics leave a stronge impression of a romantic scene, this whole idea where if it’s really love, then there’s all these dramatic developments, which is nice. Though I personally think love is more about being grateful for all the little everyday things (laughs). But basically, it’s sort of about that desire for certainty, like when you ask yourself, “Why did I say those things?” and the reason is that you want to feel sure of it.
Nishijima: “Yeah, like what Uno said, I feel like the romance described in the song isn’t exactly my personal ideal. But I do think that that sort of thing is a nice kind of idea.”
Uno: “In this song, the girl lacks confidence in herself so she sort of puts up a front for the man that she loves, and I feel a lot of sympathy for her, you know. Because if you do that for long enough then it’s really easy to forget the person underneath that mask, which I think is kind of terrible.”
Nishijima: “But you know, the girl in the song ends up being kind of a tragic heroine, during the part where she finally just lets it out, don’t you think? During that instant, the man finally understands and they feel the same way way they did when they first fell in love. And I think it’s because of that that everyone will be able to really connect with the song, even though it’s a drama rather than a common sort of love.”
Uno: “We are, after all, always the main character in the drama of our own life, aren’t we? But even in the middle of all of that, it has a really nice happy ending, which I love♪”
