Hey! I'm going to be a freshman in the fall and I had a question about orientation... If you went, was it worth it in your opinion? I don't know a single person so I would just kind of be showing up alone
Hey! Welcome to OCAD! Not a lot of people know anyone - that’s the point :) Just like the rest of your many years at OCAD, you will get out of it what you put into it. If you’re planning on going and acting “too cool” for it, you’ll hate it. You should go, have an open mind, and enjoy yourself and meet some new peers! Plus there’s free food!

WELCOME BACK MY PRECIOUSES
is it true that ocad sucks as a school? (i've heard current and previous students rant about it on ocad us' account)
THAT IS FALSE. Please do not judge our lovely home based on what OCADUS says is truth. Yes, there are some management and communication discrepancies, and yes dealing with administration and the politics of ANY institution can often be saddening and frustrating, but OCAD is a wonderful and magical place where the people you get to connect with and the art you get to make and the things you get to learn are invaluable. You will get out of the school what you put into it - and if you sit around complaining and focus on the negative, you’re certainly going to think it sucks.FROM A FEW FELLOW FOLLOWERS:
"Just to reply to xxiv-x, I’ve been to a university before, and while applying to OCAD for my second round of school, I also applied to 2 other schools. OCAD is the only school that has ever gone out of their way to help me with admissions process, been on top of replying to my emails, and just generally being friendly. I’ve been incredibly impressed. I haven’t even started school there yet, but I’m confident that it will be my best post-secondary experience, and hopefully I will meet you there!"In regards to the OCAD US group from a student union rep:
"...they are just complaining and do not have the power or resources to fix anything due to their organized efforts to remain anonymous and the hostile attitude that has been used. They openly and behind the scenes actively do work to undermine the systems in place that ARE working on fixing these important issues. Students facing struggles on campus should contact the student union and use their peers who have been elected as representatives to tackle the issues. Administration works with the student union to resolve student concerns, they are not going to work with an anonymous group who just spews negativity and refuses to collaborate. The student union reached out to the group multiple times to hear their concerns, but the group has yet to ever attempt real conversation."
