The Rose of Versailles / La Rose de Versailles (ベルサイユのばら Berusaiyu no Bara), also known as 'Lady Oscar', is one of the best-known titles in shōjo manga and a media franchise created by Riyoko Ikeda. The series focuses on Oscar François de Jarjayes, a girl raised as a man to become her father's successor as leader of the Palace Guards. A brilliant combatant with a strong sense of justice, Oscar is proud of the life she leads, but becomes torn between class loyalty and her desire to help the impoverished as revolution brews among the oppressed lower class. Also important to the story are her conflicting desires to live life as both a militiant and a regular woman as well as her relationships with Marie Antoinette, Count Axel von Fersen, and servant and best friend André Grandier. Desucon day 2! 

I finally cosplayed Oscar and Ella was my Marie Antoinette ♡ (Ella said I have to write that her dress kinda died during the day so you wouldn’t diss how it isn’t puffffff enough) 

I’m not sure how many really recognized us but we were photographed all the time. That made me very happy because I really had spent time with this costume. And I even was very satisfied with the outcome.

Basically, this Sunday I was VERY bored and so I decided to dedicate my free time to a project I hold dear.  Back in my childhood, Lady Oscar has been one of my favorite heroines: brave, fierce and… well, cross-dressed. So I decided to use my cosplay skills to reproduce one of her uniforms. My favorite color is blue, but the blue uniform was too common, so I picked the illustration above and added a little touch of me. 

I’d also love to add that, in order to make this cosplay, not a penny has been spent. All materials are random pieces I saved from previous works and… a Christmas tablecloth. YES. YOU HEARD ME.

I am absolutely satisfied and, being done in two days, this is by far one of the quickest and most detailed works of mine. I still have to work on trousers, hat and sword, but I can say that the dog days are over.
