Can you believe it's been 10 years since we met Tenchi and Ryoko's daughter? It feels like just yesterday.

I finally got around to watching the OVA 5 episode where they introduced the kids. It was awful, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, but Tenchi and Ryoko’s daughter was pretty darn cute! Here’s some pictures of her so you can spare yourself the pain of watching it yourself. She’s learning to float in that last one.

So apparently Tenchi is getting an OVA 5, which will feature Tenchi’s children. 

While I’ve been meh about OVA 4, I am excited to see this cute little lady animated!

Just watched the new raw of the Tenchi OVA and I’m pretty disappointed. I don’t understand what they’re going for anymore. Tenchi barely interacts with any of the original girls, I don’t think he even talked to any of them besides Ryo-ohki and a brief goodbye to Sasami and Noike.  It was really bizarre. He was in scenes with the other girls but he didn’t say one word to them. Ryoko didn’t talk to him either. The only slightly shippy thing was her getting angry about someone else hugging him.

How are you going to have an entire episode where Tenchi doesn’t interact with any of the original girls for more than 5 seconds? After we’ve been waiting for years for this??  It really makes no sense to me at all. I thought I must have been mistaken and so I went to check, but no, he really doesn’t talk to any of them besides that one tiny scene.

Sometimes people have asked me why I prefer the TV series to the OVA series and this is a big reason why.  The OVA is wasted potential - it has everything going for it, the characters and the way they’re portrayed is great. The world building is amazing. But.. it just drops the ball over and over. The TV series provided a satisfying experience from start to finish and the main girls felt important.  

If I could tell the staff one thing it would be this - please stop introducing new people and just focus on the core cast for once. It’s not that hard.
