Louise Glück, Poems 1962-2012
What Do We See When We Look at the Sky? (Alexandre Koberidze, 2021)
thinking about this here canal village in the netherlands
Little pink houses, Christophe Jacrot
Warm lights in cold places, Henri Prestes
Finally, in a low whisper, he said, “I think I might be a terrible person.” For a split second I believed him—I thought he was about to confess a crime, maybe a murder. Then I realised that we all think we might be terrible people. But we only reveal this before we ask someone to love us. It is a kind of undressing.
Miranda July, The First Bad Man (via patshit)
e.e. cummings, from “you are like the snow only” (excerpt from Is 5), Complete Poems: 1904-1962
[Text ID: “nothing lingers beyond a little instant, along with rhyme and with laughter O my lady (and every brittle marvelous breathing thing)
since i and you are on our ways to dust
of your fragility (but chiefly of your smile, most suddenly which is of love and death a marriage)you give me
courage so that against myself the sharp days slobber in vain”]
We’ll leave the light on, Matt Dunlap
The children we once were, she thought, live inside us like rings on a tree.
— Simon Van Booy, from “The Muse,” Tales of Accidental Genius: Stories (Harper Perennial, 2015)

please make sure that wherever you’re at in life, you don’t treat it like a transitory period. don’t waste your college years wishing to already be graduated & have a job. don’t waste your single years wishing for someone to be in love with. if/when those things come, they will come in due time and they will be good. but there is nothing like looking back and feeling empty because you wasted literal years ignoring what you had because you were hoping for something better. while it’s important to better yourself and reach for your goals, don’t neglect the present because that’s where you are now and it’s your now that determines your future.
