The hike in was hot, and day hikers were extremely chatty. But it was all fine after gorging on pizza.
The wind heading into Sonora Pass was out of control. Hold on to your hats!
Exiting Yosemite National Park and into Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest!
After camping near the beautiful Benson Lake, we began a 1500 foot climb first thing in the am, but were treated with a great view in front, and of the lake behind.
We encountered a young buck that refused to move from the trail. After a few minutes he finally joined his group, but continued to watch us. Normally the deer hardly notice you, but this guy was alert.

Due to a lack of snowfall this year all of the meadows were dead and seasonal streams dried up. A drastic change of pace from the miles of snow crossings and hundreds of stream crossings in 2011.
