From the fireside legends and oral traditions of yore to Archive of Our Own, storytelling and literature have been a cornerstone of communities all around the world and all throughout history. Words have the power to enchant, to ensnare, to instruct each generation, and the people who have the power to spin them into compelling tales have invariably left their mark in history books, in cultural consciousness, and in every reader’s heart.

The first literary magazine was established by Pierre Bayle in France in 1684, showcasing primarily literary reviews. Through the years since, literary magazines have been an unsung hero in the publishing world, often being many writers’ first publishing experience. T.S. Eliot’s first poem, “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock”, first appeared in a literary magazine dedicated to poetry. Many other acclaimed writers have also published poems and short stories in literary magazines all over the world.

This publication, Shall We Read, intends to be the Yuri!!! on ICE fandom’s first recurring online literary magazine. We aim to showcase the works of eighteen talented writers and eight brilliant artists each issue, and to compensate each of these contributors through subscriptions on Patreon.

Our pilot issue, Beginnings, will be available on the 18th. Subscriptions for this issue will open on the 11th, and most importantly, YOU can have the opportunity to contribute to Shall We Read when our applications open on the 13th.

Me: I love how Yuri on Ice not only focuses on the blooming homosexual relationship in a fetishised way but shows mutual growth and influence delicately displayed in fine details, while also depicting a variety of intricate but engaging characters with their own well-built backgrounds and the ecstasy of sports in conjunction with music, all while emphasizing the difficulties of overcoming one’s anxieties and building up confidence and trust.

Also me: Boi I need more whimpering bottom Victor, lusting for his Yuri like no tomorrow, even if it’s the death of me!
