What Inspired Imber?

I've been asked in interviews about the inspiration for Imber. The spark came long before I started drafting the novel. I've always felt a strong connection to wilderness and wildlife, and that interest naturally found its way into my fiction. While Imber is a science fiction thriller, many of its eco-dystopian themes grew from questions about humanity's relationship with the natural world and what might happen if that relationship was pushed to its limits.
