You know, I'm getting kind of bored of fundie snarkers turning any mention of Anna into a vitriolic bash-session about her.
I'm going to put this one behind a cut because I'm about to bitch up a storm here. Skip if you don't like when I do this. (Don't send me nasty anon asks about it-- I'm not in the mood.)
Case in point: this appeared on my feed today. This isn't my screen-shot, but I am currently on a desktop and can't be arsed to get my phone to screen-shot Anna's post myself.
But, at any rate, she posted this pic on IG along with a link in her bio to a PDF document about Josh's appeal. (Which we all knew was coming, unless you haven't been paying attention.)
Yes, she's "taking Josh's side." What exactly were y'all expecting? That she would see Josh's guilty verdict and go, "Oh, golly gee, my husband is guilty. I guess I just should leave the only life I've ever known, the only community I've ever had, and the life I was indoctrinated all my life to lead, to the point of squelching every doubt and discomfort I have and writing it all off as 'part of God's plan for us' and being told my immortal soul depends on my willingness to bow to it. Never mind that I'd be a single mother banned from my only support system and forced out into a cold, unfriendly world with limited education, no work experience, and with everyone knowing my name and what my husband did."
People who think she can "just leave" are hopelessly naive.
I am going to be brutally blunt here. I am so sick of women in this cult getting shat on so hardcore whenever they do things that are endorsed by the cult. These are women who are part of a system that we all know damn well is toxic, abusive, and dangerous-- a cult that strips them of their personality, their autonomy, their sense of discernment, and their pride.
And yet, instead of railing against the cult itself, I have seen so many snarkers aim their vitriol at the women themselves... despite knowing damn well those women are doing exactly what they were trained (i.e., forced via a lifetime of continued abuse) to do.
It's like people who adopt a dog from an animal shelter and then proceed to get mad when that dog pees on their floor. Two days ago, it didn't matter if that dog peed on the floor; they don't know any better. Thus, they need to be trained to pee outside instead. This is something that takes time and patience on the part of the new dog parent because getting mad at the dog just gives them a complex.
Cult members are like shelter dogs in that respect. They live in a tight bubble where thinking for themselves and taking charge of their own life is unacceptable, so they don't. And they're also told all sorts of horrible things will happen to them if they leave that "bubble," so they can't just walk away.
So excuse me, but I'm not okay with shaming cult members for staying. I'll condemn their beliefs and their actions, but aiming that vitriol at individuals does nothing to help them leave.
Also, as a feminist, it makes me especially upset because most of the fundie snark community is made up of women. Is this really how we need to be treating fellow women, especially when those women have been harmed by toxic patriarchy in its harshest extreme? We should be a place where former fundie women can land safely and heal from their trauma-- not be torn to shreds for it.
That's all, because I'm getting genuinely pissed off and heated. So I'll end with a TL;DR:
Yes, I know it's frustrating that Anna is "on his side." But I hardly see how bashing her is going to solve that problem.
Now I’m not typically down with the overt Anna bashing I’d like to point out 2 important things:
1) Shelter dogs that piss on the floor will still protect their young.
2) Giving excuses for any mother, but ESPECIALLY a white woman in her 30’s that absolutely could find the financial means to escape, to PUT HER CHILDREN IN DANGER is not a feminist opinion. In fact, it’s downright degrading to all women.
And you really think Jim Bob is going to allow her to keep those kids?
She’s a single mom with no work history and all her money/connections are tied up in this cult. JB, on the other hand, is quite connected and secure, even now. Even if she does leave, custody isn’t a guarantee. JB can absolutely get custody and take her kids from her if she leaves— doesn’t matter if Josh is convicted. All that would mean is he couldn’t get sole custody, not his family members.
All I’m saying is that this shit isn’t simple and Anna is fucked.
Jimbob cannot take her kids. That is absolutely incorrect and actually I really hope no mom trying to escape a bad situation sees this, cause that’s terrible disinformation to spread.
I’ve always liked your blog, and you get a lot of unwarranted hate. I know you wouldn’t purposely spread false information, but that is not true

The primary function of the MAP is to prevent conception, but if conception has already occurred the MAP acts to prevent the fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus, causing it to die. So actually yes, the secondary function of MAP is abortion and that doesn't even take into consideration the havoc it wreaks on your body and the drastically unhealthy effects it has on your menstrual cycle and fertility. This is all easily attainable information if you actually cared enough about women's health to look it up instead of just shlucking toxic drugs to women.
Even the notorious abortion promoter, David A Grimes, MD, who was a presenter for Plan B’s manufacturer before the FDA advisory committee in December 2003, acknowledged in a 2002 interview that MAP use has a serious negative effect on a woman’s menstrual cycle: “Repeated use of EC wreaks havoc on a woman’s cycle,” Grimes said, “so the resulting menstrual chaos acts as a powerful deterrent to using this method too often.” In fact, the menstrual chaos Grimes warns about does not deter women from repeated and routine use of MAP, as studies have shown. But MAP-induced menstrual irregularities do make it hard for women to determine whether or not they are pregnant or experiencing delayed menses.
At home and abroad, the abortion, family planning, and population control groups which seek to promote MAP ignore the scientifically-proven risks of levonorgestrel (the sole active ingredient of Plan B MAP). These well-documented adverse side effects include significant weight gain (on average 15 pounds), depression, ovarian cyst enlargement, gallbladder disease, high blood pressure, respiratory disorders,4 increased risk of ectopic pregnancy5 and death. In some women, these serious adverse effects of levonorgestrel-type MAP could lead to further health risks for bulimia, anorexia, or clinical depression.
LMAO oh wow.........after consulting your url and bio I'm just gonna uh. Leave it alone and allow you to think this because it feels like it would be a whole Thing.
In the early 2000’s I had a condom break on me. It was Memorial Day weekend and I was in rural New Mexico. Went to the ER as a last resort for the morning after pill (these were different times). Was refused… doctors rights and all… I made a pretty epic scene and promised the physician I’d name my actual abortion after him if it happened. Luckily I managed to find an internet coffee shop and get an online prescription (in 2003 that was HUGE and HUGER).
So not sure where I’m going with this other than a FUCK YOU to anyone that thinks their anti contraceptive stance is “pro-life” aka anti abortion.
P.S. abortion predates the New Testament by several millennium… so go on and think Jesus just forgot to tell us it was wrong
For some reason it didn’t occur to me that the prayer closet would have clothes stored in it 😂 In my head, a prayer closet was separate from a clothes closet lol
LOL that was my first thought too and then I thought wait........of course there would be clothes in it. Especially for the Rods who have a lot of people squeezed in that house and probably not a lot of free closet space.
When I watched that video I definitely felt happy for Janessa. Yeah, she’s still a Rod, and that’s by no stretch an ideal childhood. But I think being (somewhat) in the public eye benefits the younger Rods, especially miracle baby Janessa. Jill is narcissistic but for better or worse that seems to have manifested into her over compensating into Baby Voice Good Older Mom Mode. And the older girls clearly love the little ones.
"I only decided to do this because I hate feminism, not because I have deeply felt religious beliefs about" is not the flex Solie thinks it is lol
To be clear, I don't personally care that people/women wear head coverings if that is their choice and I know it was done for years, but her first half came across like "what convinced me to do it was finding out that feminists hate it!!!!"
It definitely isn't "a solely Christian thing" by any stretch of the imagination, and definitely not just their brand of Christianity. Lots of Muslim women choose to wear the hijab, lots of Jewish women cover their heads, and the Amish haven't changed their dress code in 300 years. Lots of ladies still love wearing hats to church. She's not a revolutionary even within her own religion. Cover your head, don't cover your head, nobody cares unless someone is forcing you to do it against your will.
if karissa got the shot with her previous 8 babies, why wouldn't she not get it? she didnt get it with anthym but it could be a lucky chance.
Because she's insane, I have no idea. She's become very anti-medicine, even for relatively innocuous stuff so I'm just assuming it has something to do with that.
Ok so some stuff about me. I started lurking on here pre-molestation scandal when I found @wesayso-foundation‘s blog. And for some reason I haven’t left yet. I’ve watched a grande total of one episode of the Duggar’s show (Kendra’s birth episode that Annie from @keepingupwithfundies posted) and a grande total of zero Bates episodes. I’m somewhere in between Jason and James in age. And I’m from Canada.
Ok, now for the reason the reason I finally decided to join. I had this theory that Jason was the most average Duggar boy. That is, if you morphed all the faces of the Duggar boys together, the result would look a lot like Jason. So I decided at about midnight today that I was going to try it and (finally) make a tumblr account to post it on. And well, let’s just say I was surprised.
It looks the most like Jed to me. Ah well, I always get Jason and Jed confused.
What do you think @undercoverduggarblog @discussingtheduggarfam @duggarwonderland @duggarsetal @darnduggars @wtffundiefamilies @mrsmorrison6 @duggardata @allthingsfundie @fortheloveofallthatsfundie @fundiethyme @granddaddycaldwell @keepingupwithfundies @totallyrobophobic and everybody else I should have tagged but forgot about?
(Also sorry for the atrocious grammar and spelling, I should honestly probably be sleeping right now but meh.)
