How to make quick bells w/out tarantulas
As April progresses tarantulas are getting more and more scarce, but never fear! There are always ways to make bank in bells.
I'm short: giant water bugs! In long:
Get yourself a nook miles ticket and go to a mystery island. A river system is required for this. I'd recommend packing lightly, you really only need a net and vaulting pole.
Pick all flowers! This keeps other insects from spawning and taking up "spawn slots" on the island. I also chop down trees near or obscuring the water, but it isn't necessary.
Pace around the island catching all the water bugs you can find. They're nearly impossible to scare away, extremely common, and worth 2k each.
I don't know for a fact this helps, but I scare away all the river fish. It helps kill time between spawns and seems to make room for the bugs.
Flick always helps, but even without his increase you can make 78k (38 bugs).
Go pay off your debt!

Here's a neat little design tip if anyone is interested: make a wild meadow on your island to grow flowers on!
This is my heath and/or old-field on the back of my island, which is supposed to look like a wild, unruly meadow inspired by abandoned farmland.
It serves the dual purpose of both just being a nice little meadow but also being a nursery of sorts for flowers I commonly use for decorating the rest of my town. Whenever I need more flowers I dig up whatever fully grown flowers I need, landscape with them, then replace what I planted with seeds from storage, trying to randomize their placement so as to make it look wild.
In this way, I don't need to wait for flowers to bloom to know if they look good in my landscaping, and the look of the flowers in the meadow in various states of growth looks more appropriately wild.
I made a little witches cove next to the campsite. 🏕
