Hi everyone, the 3.0 update has me on a chokehold and I've finished what I hope is the final iteration of my island.
Filomena is a quiet place full of mystery. When a dead body is found in the commercial district, it is time for Detective Diplosis and their associate, The Librarian, to get to the bottom of the case. Together they'll explore the darkest parts of the island and uncover some long-forgotten secrets that might have been better kept hidden. Will you join them?
Keep reading for more lore, photos of the actual island and its inhabitants, and a recommended route for visiting! Or don't: if you wanna just come to explore and try to untangle the plot by yourself, you're more than welcome to do so :)

From The Detective’s diary:
Day 1
A Mr. Tom Nook, from an island named Filomena, has called to request our services. Apparently, Filomena’s library has been forced to shut down after the town’s librarian disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
“If it’s not too much to ask”, Mr. Nook said, “I thought The Detective could investigate our own librarian’s disappearance while The Librarian takes his place for a while. Please hurry, we’re tremendously worried”.
We have a case in our hands.
Day 2
Today we have arrived in Filomena. Not only has the island turned out to be a delightful little place, but it seems to hold a rich history yet to be fully studied, or so says The Librarian. I’m sure he’ll have a wonderful time exploring the town while I attempt to determine the former librarian’s whereabouts.
Day 3
This disappearance case has taken a very dark turn. Filomena’s former librarian appeared this morning in the middle of the playground, lifeless and clearly the victim of a murder.
I need to get to the bottom of this, and fast.
Day 4
Even though I’ve put my best effort into the interrogation process, none of the villagers seem to know anything of substance. Sure, some of them have sketchy affairs going on, but nothing I can relate to the former librarian.
Has this investigation come to a halt?
Day 5
While I was preoccupied with the suspects, The Librarian discovered something about Filomena itself. He thinks the ruined arches and pillars that can be found all around the residential district are what remains of an ancient palace. Could this island's civilization be built on the ruins of a different one?
And does this relate to the case in any way?
Day 6
I must admit I was left uneasy by The Librarian’s findings. I came to the conclusion that, if this island’s past hides any secrets, maybe its oldest inhabitants could know something about it. The curious thing is, a quick browse at the town’s records revealed that Roswell, Cephalobot, and Coco have been here since even before Resident Services was built.
What does that mean? Can they be trusted?
Day 7
On a lighter note, The Librarian has taken it upon himself to fully explore the outskirts of town in search of some clues about the island’s past, and just this morning, he found these splendid creatures called gyroids! Aren’t they charming?
…And don’t they bear a striking resemblance to our Coco?
Day 8
A major, terrifying development has occurred: The Librarian went into the library’s basement and found the former librarian’s secret study. It’s filled to the brim with ancient sculptures, enigmatic remains, gyroids, and carefully labeled glowing moss jars… Which seem to come from the same part of the island The Librarian himself was exploring.
So the former librarian was on the same investigative track as we are. Was he killed because he knew too much?
All clues point to the ancient ruins behind the graveyard, a place believed to be haunted by Filomena’s inhabitants. We shall visit them tomorrow.
Day 9
Now we understand. The signs were right in front of us, and we’ve been trying to make sense of them. But now, we understand. We were never supposed to come here. This island was never ours to explore. We understand.
We understand it’s too late.

The most plot-relevant spots are the crime scene, the Detective's office, the library, and the ruins. That being said, I also built the island to be nice and playable for me, so please feel free to roam at your own pace. Not everything will be a clue and I put a lot of care into this little place.
