Blood, Souls, Free Will, and how they all relate to eachother.

Ok. This is gonna be a lot, and probably wildly incorrect, but who gaf. Theory time.

Spoilers below for Ultrakill lore

Blood: In Ultrakill, Blood is easily the most important resource in the universe. It gives life to anything it circulates through. Not just life, but Free Will as well.

Most people use our understanding(however hypothetical) of souls, to interpret how they work in Ultrakill, but I dont think we should.

Why? Machines. We know for a fact that machines do not have souls. They cannot form into prime souls, nor do they have an afterlife.

And yet, they still have free will. They have thoughts and feelings that go far, far beyond basic self preservation. They feel guilt. They feel fear.

The gutterman in 7-2 is the best possible example of this: Even if killing their 'mother' would end with the machines death... they still do it. They even write a poem about it. They hide the poem after writing it.

This, to me, is concrete proof of one thing: Souls have nothing to do with free will, Blood does. Everything alive has Blood, and everything that has Blood, has a will of its own.

Machines have free will. Demons have free will to an extent(Minotaur + Geryon (and demons formed from human remains, like the leviathan)) and of course, angels and humans have free will.

This explains a lot.

It explains why God could never create life without free will. It explains why even Demons can actually act on their own, without influence from Hell. Because Blood is vital for 'life', and Free Will is inherent to Blood.

As for souls: I dont have as concrete of a theory for their purpose, but my idea is that they're processors. They channel the free will from Blood into an actionable form. Souls are the mind. Memories and actions and personality.

But unlike Blood, souls are not vital to life, and substitutions can be made.

Machines use a combination of human biology and literally processors to replace Souls. Demons are likely similar, albeit more biological.

Angels and humans, though? They both possess souls, as direct creations of God. Humans more blatantly than angels, but Gabriel's soul is mentioned in the act 1 intermission.

The only part of souls that can't be substituted is simple: their persistence after death.

Obviously, when humans die they go to an afterlife, depending in the rules God said when He created Hell.

Angels dont go anywhere, but thats likely because God never 'coded' such a function into their souls. They were never originally subject to the rules of humanity, and thus would not go to an afterlife upon death. (Lucifer is technically an exception, but even then, they were sent down physically. They didnt die and go to Hell that way.)

But just because that aspect of their souls differ, it doesnt mean they(human and angelic souls) dont share that persistence.

Prime Souls are formed when something with a soul dies, and its will is so great that it allows them to maintain a physical form without a body. They are walking souls.

And yet they still have Blood. Even without a body, they still. Have. BLOOD. They still have free will, thoughts and feelings and memories.

And if angels also have souls(they do, its been stated) then what is stopping a particularly persistent Angel from returning after death?

An Angel that has been suffering under Hell for centuries.

A person that, despite everything, still resists. Because if they didnt, their tormentor would have gotten bored if them long before V1 arrived.

Now in fairness, some of the things people have come up with for Ulysses/Odysseus are pretty cool. But like. Ulysses is mentioned metaphorically once. (Plus the itheca thing, but I also think thats not meant to be taken literally.)

Lucifer has... how many mentions? 3-2 sorta, 5-s absolutely. A book from hell addressed to them specifically... plus the big ass painting in 8-1.

Like. Bet on Lucifer prime! You literally can't lose, unless Hakita decides to introduce a random character in the same update we get P3 in... but he wouldn't do that, hes to smart for that.

Ultrakill P3 prediction. Spoilers :3

Lucifer will most likely be the Prime Soul of P-3

Yeah. Basically that's it.

Not really. Let me yap a bit for a moment :3

So as we all know, Fraud came out recently, and with it we've got some new candidates for the Prime soulf of P-3. Well. Candidate. I'll explain.

In fraud, there's books you can gain access to by beating a secret encounter (dual weild room in 8-2, and double ferryman in 8-3). In the books, three names are mentioned across each. Ulysses, Adam, and Lucifer. But for two of these names, they're being used in a metaphorical sense, as opposed to being introductions to actual characters.

These two names are Ulysses and Adam.

The 'Icy Ulysses' being mentioned here, is not an introduction the an actual, plot relevant character, but Hell being very wordy, as it always has been. Ulysses is being used in place of the word deceit, i.e., Icy Deceit. Or treachery. (ha. treachery tomorrow)

As for Adam, his name is just being used to describe mankinds inherent capacity for violence. He was amongst the first humans, and likely taught his children to be violent, and in turn they taught their children the same. 'Murder is in their nurture'.

But while these two are mentioned in a metaphorical sense...

Lucifer has pretty much an entire book dedicated to them.

This book, like the previous, was written by Hell. A love letter, for its favorite toy, so to speak. Of course, Hell doesn't understand love the way we humans do, on account of it's abstract mind. 'The spatio-temporal mind' is what humans possess. Basically it means our minds abide by physical laws, and thus can only understand things that abide by the same laws. The whole 'conceptualize reality only in binary' thing.

Hell, does not have such a mind. Nor does the Father, most likely, but this isn't about Him.

Hell sees suffering, in all its forms, as beautiful. Look at the Minotaur. Look at the Death Catchers. The Mannequins. And thus, Hell tortures Lucifer. Because Lucifer is its favourite toy. It's 'love'.

And it's not like this is the first mention of Lucifer, either. They're alluded to in 3-2 with Gabriels 'You make even the Devil cry' line. They're officially named in 5-s, with God describing them as 'Bright and Beautiful.

And now, in Fraud, we have both a book entirely devoted to Lucifer, but also their likely presence in the 8-1 painting.

I've seen a lot of peopls say that cutout bit could be Uriel or Azazel, but 1: Phanuel and Uriel are often protrayed as the same character, and Azezel could be cool, but- well. Their name doesn't line up with the plaque. Nor does Uriels.

See this. Look closely at the end of where the name would be. I'd say that looks a lot more like an 'R' than and 'L'. Same with the 's' at the end of the description.

Now, why am I so insistent on it being Lucifer, you may ask? Well. Who else could it be?

I kid. kinda.

I just think it'd be poetic. While the events of the prime sanctum levels may or may not be canon at any given moment, I think Lucifer being the very last boss a player could possibly fight is incredibly poetic.

Think. Lucifer, as far as we know, is Hells favourite toy. Its favourite thing to mess with and torment.

Until V1, that is.

V1 is, for all intents and purposes, Lucifers replacement. V1 will become Hells new toy, and Hell will play with it until either V1 dies, or Hell finds something new.

V1 being the one that cements its own fate by killing Lucifer, in the end, would be very fitting.

But also... it makes me think about what Lucifers motive for fighting V1 could be. Lucifer is Gods Kindness, after all. Will V1 strike first? Will Lucifer be too far gone by the time we get to them?

No. Even after everything, I don't think Lucifer will have lost themselves to violence. They alone spoke out about the cruelty of Hells very existence. They have suffered for who knows how long.

And yet, Hell still considers them its favourite toy. I doubt Hell would still take interest in Lucifer if they had simply gone mad by now.

So what if... Lucifers motivation for attacking V1... is to spare V1 from their fate.

Lucifer knows about V1. They know that Hell is taking interest. And if Lucifer dies, they know V1 will take their place. So out of mercy... out of kindness, they try to stop V1. To kill V1. All to spare them the fate Lucifer has suffered for centuries.

How poetic would that be. Lucifer calling out to V1, begging them to give up so that they don't suffer a fate far, far worse than death.

Every attack callout, not a threat or warning like Minos and Sisyphus, but a plea.

How wonderfully cruel it could be, to kill the Angel anyway. How wonderfully merciful.

or, TLDR, Lucifer is the most fitting P-3 candidate there is, and I think it'd be neat to see them.

THEORY TIME!

ok. so it's not really a theory and more of a personal proposal about Lucifer in Ultrakill lore.

With the new 'Power' enemies, we know that angels are genderless, and are only referrred to with he/him pronouns because of their closeness to the father.

So I ask you... should we refer to Lucifer with he/him pronouns? Of course, it depends on their theoretical preference, but we don't know much about Lucifer other than the fact that they're kind and compassionate.

So yeah. i think Lucifer will be, or should be referred to with they/them pronouns, unless we learn their preference differs from this. Idk why I made this, but the idea came to me in a dream, and i gotta tell someone abt it.

also Lucifer is the primary (and only) candidate for P3 right now. I might post some reasoning for that later.

I've been so excited for the upcoming fraud release, that I had to make art of out beloved V1. (oh my goodness, it's been so long since I made art of anything Ultrakill related...)

Okay. Im not gonna go too in depth on Modulo chapter 20 yet, because its still early, and the translations may be off, but...

Spoilers ahead for JJK Modulo chapter 20

DABURA IS TOP 2 IN THE VERSE! AND YUUJI IS TOP 1!! FUCK YESSS!!

With the latest chapter, we see three separate perspectives, and each of which are pretty crazy, so let me yap.

We open where chap 19 left off, with yuuji. He just... black flashes a simurian that tries to kill him with an axe. Black flash at will? Please.

He talks a bit about how it 'doesnt matter', and that yuuji itadori should be forgotten :(( I could never.

Then we cut to dabura for a bit, who just. Learns cursed technique reversal. In a few panels. Oh my days, this guy is genuinely the most talented sorcerer in the series.

We dont actually get to see the reversed technique, and I navent actually seen the panel yet, but I'm guessing its like. Darkness or something.

At least he knows he has to one shot maho with this.

We cut back to maru Vs tsurugi for a bit, where tsurugi pulls the soul split katana from rikas storage. WHAT THE FUCK.

Rika helps him slash at maru, before she dissipates, leaving the SSK with tsurugi.

I think its after this that we cut back to yuuji, who I kid you not...

Performs a dismantle(no chants, btw) on a bunch of Curses, and it causes equal damage to sukunas fuga and gojos last purple. Twice. Holy fuck yuuji is literally top one. The strongest sorcerer ever.

Genuinely can't wait for the official translations. Its so fuckin cool...

I actually just lose all ability to speak about anything ever. Damn my stupid noodle brain...
