Of Horses and Long Distance

A 27yr Old Equestrian from the US who also happens to be in an LDR with my UK husband. I will write about both my equestrian activities, and about the ldr life.

Misty’s visit

Misty the horse wasn’t feeling well.  As her person wrote:

Misty, has a lot of bumps and bruises. One leg is no longer “stiff”, all four hooves are torn, misc seams are loose, and she’s sadly very dirty. Do you think you can help?

Here are her initial diagnosis photos:

Now a horse with sore feet can’t run or even graze easily, and we couldn’t have that!  Plus, she really needed a bath and some currying.  So shetrotted down the coast from Oregon for a bit of a spa:

As with most patients, she got a new heart with a bit of her original stuffing:

Her person and I agreed that we’d recover her hooves in velvet rather than the original faux leather.  Then they wouldn’t peel the same way.  Here she is cleand and happy, with her healthy new feet, ready to go galloping back north:

“Perfect!” said her person.  So Misty flew home.  Soon after her person wrote:

Beth!!!!

Thank you SO much! Misty arrived home safe and improved! Honestly, I cannot believe the work you do. I haven’t cried this much since I got her for my 8th birthday!

Long time, no post

So yeah, been a very long time since I actually wrote a post on here. Things have been going pretty well, I guess. 

I’ve just been focusing on work, and riding my pony. I went to England from December 7th-January 9th to visit my husband, and to spend time with the in laws for the holidays. It’s been two weeks since I’ve been back in the States and miss my husband. We’re moving forward with saving money for my visa application. Should have enough money by the end of February I think.

As for Jet? I want to take him over with me, but I know it will be no easy task. It’s going to take a lot of money and a lot of effort involved. I don’t want to sell him, as I know that would devastate me. Am I selfish for wanting to bring my horse over to the UK, rather than selling him? Maybe. My husband says that it would be better if I sell him, rather than bring him over, only because of how expensive it is. Thinking about selling Jet though, it makes me feel almost nauseous. I hope we can really work hard to bring him over with me. 

Other than that, nothing really much going on in my life. I did a gofundme a while back, to perhaps raise some money in order to get him over, but haven’t been really advertising it, as it doesn’t get that much attention anyway. Dunno whether I should work on trying to get more attention for that, or just save it as a last effort.
