Sometimes i think about how I might draw that loz comic I've been kicking around, but then I remember that I'm never gonna do that. lol
I also think that maybe one day I'll just write it out as a fic, but I'm not really much of a writer of prose (in the story sense anyways). So maybe I'll just barf out some thoughts here, so they can leave me in peace. haha
I have a lot of thoughts about BotW Link, for many many reasons, but I really liked how they characterized his muteness as a form of anxiety. The sort of thing a kid who's only surrounded by adults would do. Stories about lonely children always resonate with me because I too was a lonely child for some of my formative years, and that kind of stuff really tugs at my heart strings.
Link has such a strong voice in the beginning of the game (only expressed through dialogue options given to the player but never actually heard), that makes me feel like it's his real personality allowed to shine now that he's not burdened by the pressures of his former life... you know, on account of the amnesia. He's kind of silly, kind of demanding, excitable, like the kid that he is.
And I'd like to think that perhaps his father was so strict on him because of the qualities that make him the Hero. Because he can see spirits and ghosts--a sixth sense that generally all Links have had before him. Maybe it made him wary to enter certain parts of the castle or to take a certain path in the forest. But his father, unable to see those things thought they were mere flights of fancy or perhaps excuses for cowardice. Unbefitting of a knight.
Wouldn't it have been juicy if Link had been able to see or sense something at the sacred springs where Zelda couldn't, but because he had been taught to keep his mouth shut, he just never said anything?
There's an interesting theme of duty between Link, who had to face his calling form a young age and is visibly traumatized from it, and Zelda, who struggled to awaken to hers basically until the moment she died (like, she survived, but she would've died if her powers hadn't awakened at that moment... you know what I mean).
But like who cares about all of that. /s
Genuinely though, the thing I think about the most is BotW Link's relationship with TP Link (the summonable companion that you can get only through the TP Link amiibo that I want so badly but it costs so much now and I'll never have it). Because I know no one at nintendo really thought about it that deeply when they implemented it. They have to sell toys and make those toys somehow meaningful/worth it to own, so why not get a fun wolf companion who will follow you around? :)
Okay but have you considered... TP Link himself encountered a previous incarnation of Link in the form of a wolf who acted as a spirit guide do you see where I'm going with this. (consider: why is TP link there? can he transform back? is he a ghost? is he still alive? these are all things I've put way too much time into thinking about.)
Aaaanyways, I had written some more slice of life style vignettes as well as a whole prologue and epilogue for the hypothetical comic, but the longer I sit on it, the more I don't think I can do all that work. @~@
How do people who work on comics trim down their projects to make them manageable?? Help. lol
If you made it this far, thanks for reading my rambles. Maybe I'll find the courage to draw a comic again one of these days.
