And this is it…Day 7…can’t believe we’re here already. But seriously though, I had a blast wriring these submissions. So I hope you had fun too. Now here it is, my final entry for the week! I hope it was a good cap off because I like to think so.

Summary: When Futaba is saved by a boy her age, she asks her mom if she can have a sibling. So Wakaba decides to adopt one for her. And that sibling was going to be Goro, the boy who saved her daughter. For Futago Siblings Week 2021 Day 7

Preview: Sojiro came in to see Wakaba, unsurprisingly, deep in thought as she looked out the window.

“Something on your mind?” he said as he took a seat across her.

“Do you think it would be worth it to give Futaba a sibling, Sojiro?”

He spluttered. “I’m sorry what?”

Had he heard that right? He must have been imagining things…

…except he wasn’t.

“I want to know your opinion on giving Futaba a sibling,” she said, not turning to him as she still looked out the window.

“Oh uh…”

She wasn’t implying what he was thinking…was she? She had rebuffed his advances for a long while until she finally put her foot down to declare she would give it proper thought in better, and less busy, circumstances for the both of them…and yet she was saying this all of sudden? Though he wasn’t that surprised. Of course the only way she would accept any relation other than friendship with him right now was for a more clinical reason…

“I think it would be good for her,” he said. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, she’ll probably complain about it. You two’ll be busier with another mouth to feed, but I know she’ll be glad to have company. At the very least, she’d have someone to keep her busy now.”

Sojiro was startled when Wakaba stood abruptly.

“Okay. I’ll start now. The sooner, the better.”

Sojiro stared.

“What?! Right now?!”

His mind scrambled with many half-formed thoughts…until Wakaba said,

“Yes. Do you have free time this afternoon? I need help with the adoption process.”

“Wait, adoption?”

“Yes. You know what, just tell me later. I’ll see you later, Sojiro,” she said as she just left.

Sojiro stared for a good while.

Then he sighed and slumped against his seat.

He should’ve known. She wasn’t about to do that with him, much less in public. As eccentric as Wakaba was, she wasn’t that bold and she had already set the boundaries for their relationship. So he was equal parts embarrassed and ashamed that he thought that, perhaps, she was uncaring enough of other people’s opinions that she would do it anyway after changing her mind. But he couldn’t help but be hopeful of a chance despite the past years, nor get mad at her for unintentionally giving him the wrong signal. That was just how she was.

Sojiro chuckled.

He really had it bad for her.

Though now he wondered…did she have someone in mind for adoption?

Day 7 of Futago Siblings Week is here! Today’s prompts are revelation and/or free day 💡🆓

Yet another AU! This time of Gravity Falls.

That post above is basically what inspired this. But with a major difference. If you’re familiar with my work, or just read my previous submissions for this week, you might be able to guess what that difference is.

Summary: They just arrived in Gravity Falls and what’s the first thing his sister wanted to do? Catch the ghost that’s supposedly haunting their new house. Goro knows he should refuse…but he can’t help it. For Futago Siblings Week 2021 Day 6

Preview: And thus they are now at the present, with Goro groaning and saying,

“And that is why we’re in the attic in the dark.”

Dad was going to kill them….him especially since he didn’t stop his younger sister.

“Hey! Stop recording! Why are you even recording?!” Futaba said, “whisper shouting”.

“If I’m going to die, I’m going to at least leave something behind on my own terms.”

“Stop being so dramatic! That’s what all our equips are for!”

Said equips being legitimate bullet proof vests—bought from very lax gun store owners that Goro planned on reporting about later—several holy items of Shinto, Buddhist and Christian relevance—all of which Goro had a feeling was taken after Futaba lied about their intended use—and two good old frying pans—why that instead of something more practical, like a baseball bat, he wasn’t sure, though perhaps the fact it had a rosary and beads and others dangling from it could be why.

“Just making sure,” he said.

The last thing he wanted was him jinxing everything.

But as the minutes turned into hours, he was starting to wonder if any of it was necessary.

“Can we go back now?”

“No.”

“Dad’s going to catch us if we don’t get on our beds soon.”

“We’ll go back before he wakes up.”

Goro sighed. “Come on Futaba. Let’s go. We can—”

CRASH.

Day 6 of Futago Siblings Week is here! Today’s prompts are ghosts and/or acceptance  👻 🫂

DAY FIVE AT LAST! Why am I particularly excited for this day? BECAUSE I CAN NOW SHOW MY ONE PIECE AU OF AKECHI AND FUTABA! Featuring Wakaba, Marine Sojiro…and badass former pirate, Akechi’s mom, or as I call her, Kaho.

Summary: “Why do you want to be a pirate anyway?” “Because…I wanna find the One Piece for you.” The beginning of “Captain Crow” Goro and his sister, Futaba, journey and why they left to find the One Piece. For Futago Siblings Week 2021 Day 5

Preview: Kaho had just been finishing up with lifting the crates, looking around to see if Mr. Schmitz was back, when two balls barelled into her legs.

“Mama! Mama!”

“Kaho! Kaho!”

“Oof! Woah woah! Slow down! What’s wrong?” she said, worried something serious had happened.

“Is this you, Mama?”

Kaho froze.

In the hand of her eight year old son was her wanter poster from two years ago.

“Where…did you get that?”

“Futaba found it!” her beloved son said with a smile. “She was looking for paper for her maps and found that!”

Kaho grimaced.

Of course it was Futaba who found it. The little shark…

Before she could think about what to do with the situation she was in, or admonish the little shark that was there, Goro jumped up and down as he said with sparkling,

“Is it really true?! Were you a really cool pirate?!”

“Shh! Quiet Goro!” she said, a hand over his mouth.

But she regretted it as soon as Goro froze then turned downcast and apologetic.

“Sorry… I won’t ask…”

Kaho flinched, her heart sliced at the sight of seeing her son pull himself back into his shell.

“It’s okay, my son. I’m not mad.” She did, however, glower at Futaba, as she said, “I’m just being careful. You know I can’t tell you here…right…?”

Unsurprisingly Wakaba’s daughter was wholly unapologetic and was just as excited as her big half-brother.

“Can you tell us at the house then?” she said.

Kaho sighed. She was tempted to deny them but… She glanced at her son again. …Goro’s eyes were sparkling like she hadn’t seen them before. The closest comparison she had was…her own eyes, years ago, back when she was still young and hopeful. And she had no strength in her heart to crush that shine through her own words.

So, even if a part of her was hesitant, Kaho said,

“Sure. But only after I finish my job and you two finish your chores before I get back… Got it?”

They readily agreed and soon Kaho found herself telling her son about her tenure as a pirate.

Day 5 of Futago Siblings Week is here! Today’s prompts are flowers and/or traveling 🌻🧳

Superhero AU! Couldn’t help it. Does it count as roleswap? I have no idea. But I mainly “used” the prompt Trust for this one so it doesn’t really count in my head.

Summary: Futaba thought her mother would die that day. But when the vigilante Crow saves her, not only does she find her own calling to be a hero, but finds a brother as well. For Futago Siblings Week 2021 Day 4

Preview: They had run into Sojiro on their way to Akihabara, after finishing busso of course Futaba took the chance to have him come along so she could get her figure. He was more likely to get something for after all.

Futaba ignored the two as Mom continued to play argue with Sojiro. The three of them stopped along wktg a few others on a street when the stop sign told them to, plus cars and stuff were driving by pretty fast.

Then Futaba’s grip on her Mom’s hand was yanked.

Futaba’s breath left.

It was just a second, but it felt so long as she watched her mom stumbled into the road…right in the middle of traffic. She heard the people around shout in surprise. She heard Sojiro also shout as she saw him try to reach for Mom. She felt the brush of someone passing behind her. And she felt her heart stop at the reality.

Mom was going to die.

And she couldn’t do anything.

And then the next second happened way too fast.

One second, her mom was falling into traffic, the next she was to her far right, something black tackling her and then tackling someone else, making them scream.

Now Futaba froze for a different reason.

There, on top of a man lying face first on the ground, was a person in a black body suit and mask.

“Are you all right?” he said, looking at Mom.

Futaba gasped. “Mom!”

“Wakaba!”

“I’m fine…”

“Be careful,” the guy said. “I’ll be taking this man to the station.”

And then he was gone.

Third AU. Are all my submissions for this week AUs? You’ll have to find out yourself. But anyways, as a mythology fan, I had a great time writing this one.

Summary: Goro wasn’t loved by anyone bar Mama when he still lived in the mortal world and thus assumed it would remain that way, if not worsen, as the newly assigned god of the dead. But with his half-sister and her mother arriving, she was going to prove him wrong. For Futago Siblings Week 2021 Day 3

Preview: “You shall rule over the dead.”

That had been his father’s decree, the god over the skies, after going through all his trials. He had blanched and had almost balked. This wasn’t what he had wanted. He had hoped to impress his father enough to let him into his kingdom of gods. He had hoped to bring his mother into his realm and finally grant her lifelong wish.

But he was the supreme god, and he had been a mere demi-god who just barely attracted his interest thanks to the fates blessing his birth with more divinity than he should have been. He knew he couldn’t refuse, so he did as told and journeyed to the underworld, his mother accompanying him. He had initially wished for her to remain in the mortal realm, but she had insisted. She would inevitably end up in his new kingdom after all. But unlike with his father, he acquiesced because not out of fear for his mother, but out of love.

Anyhow, he knew that she would his only source of that comfort and closeness.

Nobody wanted to be close to the god of the dead.

Day 3 of Futago Siblings Week is here! Today’s prompts are bonds and/or death 💞💀

happy futaba and goro half-siblings week everyone! i’ve always loved the idea of futaba taking goro to a convention- so here they are, cosplaying the featherman characters! ✨

It’s the second day and yet another AU. This time with Futaba and Akechi as kids…featuring Kana!

Summary: In one world, Futaba is cut off from her friend Kana after she accidentally reads her diary showing the abuse she’s going through and could only help her years later. But in this world, she has her big brother Goro to push her to help a little sooner. For Futago Siblings Week 2021 Day 2

Preview: Tall intimidating doors that looked ready to swallow her whole. Equally imposing and tall walls that blocked any chance of escape. And people absolutely everywhere, filling it all to the brim like an endlessly generated spawn area. Futaba whimpered and shrunk into herself as her heart raced, tears pricked and her breath turned frantic.

It was exactly how she imagined school to be.

“Futaba-chan?” Goro then said, worried, before wrapping an arm around her. “Still worried, huh?”

“What do you think?” she said, sarcastic, but leaned into her big brother’s hold, appreciating the gesture.

A part of her was still tempted to change her mind and ask Mom to have her stop going to school. But just like with her brother, she didn’t want to bother Mom.

Besides, she had a promise list to complete, and Futaba was nothing if not a completionist.

Her brother chuckled. “Then let’s get started so we can meet each other again at lunch already.”

Futaba nodded and walked with her brother into the jaws of doom of the super dungeon.

Day 2 of Futago Siblings Week is here! Today’s prompts are growth and/or forgiveness  🌱 💛

Woo! It’s the 24th in my timezone! You know what that means? Futago Sibling Week starts for me! And now I can finally show all my entries! Starting with…AU where Akechi and Futaba decide to make a Featherman game!

Summary: Goro and Futaba are tired of the video game adaptations of Featherman being bad or eh. So what do they do? Make a good one themselves of course! For Futago Siblings Week 2021 Day 1

Preview: Another game, another adaptation, another hope that it would be good.

It wasn’t.

Goro and Futaba groaned and plopped against their couch in synch.

“What would you rate it?” he said, sulky.

“Six out of ten for gameplay, three out of ten for story,” she said, also sulky.

“So five out of ten overall.”

“Yup.”

“Agreed.”

They sighed and slid down against the couch, in synch once again, until only their heads were supported on the backrest.

The thing in question they shared the same opinion on was none other than the newest video game adaptation of the Feathermen franchise. They had been hopeful about it since it wasn’t directly adapting any particular incarnation of Feathermen, instead opting to have a new team for the game and thus an original story that wouldn’t be constrained by decisions on its canonicity. Not only that, the gameplay actually looked good from the trailers, showing a potential to have depth to it, beyond its initial simplicity, much like Pocketmon’s mechanics. But no, it kept up the long standing tradition or subpar, if not outright terrible, video game adapations of other media franchises, just like most of the Feathermen games before it.

“You’d think they’d figure out by now how to make a good game…”

“You would think that. But unfortunately, thanks to the facts known as reality, that isn’t the case.”

“Ugh…this is so annoying! It’s either good story, good gameplay or neither! By a whole lot! Never both!” Futaba groaned again.

“It would certainly help if they stuck with one studio, preferably with people who love the franchise working on it…” Goro said in observation.

Futaba tensed.

Goro frowned.

“Futaba?”

“What if we make one then?”

“I’m sorry?”

Futaba grinned. “What if we’re the ones who make a Feathermen game? I bet we’d make a million times better than any game before!”

And Goro understood then. While Futaba could easily do all the programming herself, if not outright make the game alone as she had made and sold the rights off to several mobile games before, she certainly couldn’t do it like a triple A video game…unless he helped, the one who had better social skills yet equal intelligence with her.

Goro smiled. “Then shall we get started?”

“Let’s go!”
