It’s hard to make a Christmas song that doesn’t suck, let alone one that’s listenable. It’s even harder to make a Christmas song that isn’t dripping with cheesetastic holiday cheer. But we think one of our favorite new artists, Blonde Maze, (who we’re excited to welcome to the Rude Fox / Future Tapes family with this single release) nailed it.

Nostalgic, filled with longing, and evocative, Blonde Maze’s cover of the classic “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home” makes you want to be wrapped up in a blanket in front of the fire while the snow covers the windowsill, snuggled with the one you love to fight off that Winter loneliness. And if that person isn’t there, this is the perfect song to help you keep  know you’ll be thinking of them.

We think PAPER Magazine said it best when they premiered the track earlier today, “Listen to the track below, and try not to feel all the feels.“

To be honest, we're a little biased. That's because we know Luxley very well. We've already heard their new Spirit EP (due out May 2015). And we know we love Luxley. So we know you're going to love them, too. It's not just because we spent time out with them during their tour with Bombay Bicycle Club and Milo Greene last Fall (it really was an amazing tour). And it's not because we saw how infectious Luxley is live. It's because "Spirit" is at once anthemic and danceable. Warm and wild. It's both like driving to Coachella on a warm summer afternoon with the window down and dancing on the beach with a roaring fire while the sun sets behind you. Arpeggiating synths, subtly building guitar, and booming toms give this a festival feel that you could imagine taking in while lying in a grassy field with everyone dancing around you. And Nora Patterson, of Royal Teeth, lends her rich vocal styling to provide the right texture to the winding down of a long, warm summer day.
