witch-of-origins:
“These are oleander flowers. their poison is such that if you strip the blooms from a stem and roast a marshmallow on it, you can make a man ill. when bee’s gather pollen from them, the honey produced will make you ill as well. there’s not a part of this plant that won’t make you ill or kill you.”
Her gloved hand reached out and tapped a flower, watching it fall down to the ground below, a serene look on her face. It was a peaceful afternoon, the air becoming chiller and chiller as time wore on. Hive city was slowly marching deeper into Winter, and parts of this pleased Maria.
it wasn’t what she expected, at least not from a girl as young as her, but she didn’t particularly mind. it was interesting to know such plants existed; she’d learned of a few along her journey, but it’s not like she stopped to study anything like that. she made a mental note of the information the girl gave her.
“is that right? ...these don’t seem to be wild, either...” she supposed she couldn’t judge who grew what, anyhow. the flowers were pretty, and that’s probably the purpose of it rather than the poison. “...with people growing things like this, the city is incredibly odd, isn’t it?”
