a small but interesting part of the good place s3 that i really appreciated is the red herring that there’s a Bad Place conspiracy to steal people away from the Good Place and that, in actuality, it’s a greater, overarching flaw in the system. to me it’s really representative of the reasoning behind so many irl conspiracy theories that pinpoints an actual problem but fails to acknowledge the major, systemic flaws in society and instead lays the blame on aliens/cults/specific government officials because those are more tangible villains and it’s so much harder to accept the issue is something more complex than a Bad Guy doing Bad Things.
