To my followers
I'm gonna be gone for a good while. With the drop of the Epilogues came a slew of hateful, entitled and frankly infuriating rhetoric and discourse that I have less than zero desire to engage with or wade through in order to interact with Tumblr. Some of this rhetoric has come in the form of users with big names (and subsequently a lot of sway) within the community decrying the Epilogues with absolutely no genuine criticism other than "I don't want this, it's bad" and I'm not willing to entertain the space for those kind of posts in my life at the moment. Three pages of content is not enough to judge an entire piece of media, and with the lack of constructive criticism or comprehension that I'm used to seeing from some of these users goes much of my respect. Maybe that's harsh, but I'm going to be stepping away to enjoy the new content in a space where I can dissect and discuss, rather than decry and denounce.
This decision is largely fed with an increasing irritation with the current societal climate that allows folks to feel comfortable dogpiling onto content creators for making decisions that they don't like. It is a creator's job and right to create, not to change their art to suit someone else. If that means losing an audience member, than so be it - that is to say, if you hate the direction it's taking so deeply, you are under no obligation to continue to read it/engage with the content. Doing so just to complain loudly and infringe upon the enjoyment of others is both immature and unecessary, and I'm not willing to watch it happen. Fandom spaces are for fans - if you no longer consider yourself a fan, you don't need to remain in the space. And if you are still a fan, and just don't like the new content? Blacklist it. Blacklist it and let others enjoy it.
I don't know when I'll be back. Once some of the hype dies down, maybe. Maybe after the Epilogues are over. I'm unsure.
