I hope you find someone who can’t believe they get to love you.
the thing about media literacy is that understanding why the author chose to specify that the curtains are blue is the same skill set as understanding that the way the author characterizes all black characters as angry or all chinese characters as meek and silent is racist. it is the same skill set as being able to identify when a news source is biased or when someone is feeding you propaganda. the ability to ask "why did this person choose to present this premise in this specific way?" is a critical skill in a world full of misinformation. why are the curtains blue? maybe it's a characterization detail. maybe it's extraneous worldbuilding. why is this character written as being right all the time? maybe you're intended to disagree with them. maybe it doesn't matter. maybe you should still ask why.
change does not come from a place of comfort
I find pennies and nickels in my couch all the time, so I don’t know what you are talking about
I was curious about to what degree the Harry Potter fandom has died out (or not) since both the end of the main series/film series and JKR's increasingly vocal transphobia in the last seven or so years, so I started pulling HP data per year for the main categories (M/M, F/M, F/F, Gen), and thus far I've found a number of things that largely boil down to "No, at least in terms of people updating fics on AO3, it has not died down."
For most of the categories, HP actually growing faster than the category as a whole in a number of the years since JKR started being openly transphobic. For F/M fics in particular, HP fics made up 7.55% of all F/M fics updated in 2025, which is the highest rate since 2011. (This is almost certainly due to the Dramione popularity.)
For M/M fics, there was a small dip in 2019 (reflected in the % of total M/M fics updated that year, not the number of HP fics posted per day), but then it immediately started going back up to pre-2019 percentages.
I semi-unironically blame Reylo for the recent surge in popularity of Dramione.
Some interesting things that I've found in this data:
In general, each year has more HP fics than the previous year, which on one hand wouldn't be particularly notable because there are just more fics being posted/updated on AO3 every year, but it is notable because looking at fandoms like Supernatural or Teen Wolf, there are fewer fics being posted now than there were during its height.
In 2022, Sirius/Remus passed Draco/Harry in terms of number of fics per year, and that has continued in the years since. Draco/Harry is still the most popular ship in terms of absolute numbers, but it is not the ship being posted about the most over the last few years.
In 2025, Draco/Hermione also passed Draco/Harry, and that has continued thus far into 2026.
In 2025, there were also more James Potter/Lily Potter fics than Draco/Harry fics updated (it was actually the most popular HP ship in 2025 by fics updated, followed by Sirius/Remus, Draco/Hermione, and then Harry/Draco), but so far in 2026 there have been more Draco/Harry fics than James/Lily fics.
F/M (particularly Draco/Hermione and James/Lily) are increasingly driving HP fics, and in 2025 and thus far in 2026 there were more F/M HP fics posted than M/M HP fics (though M/M makes up a very large percentage still).
#are you kidding me youre keeping hp alive for HETSLOP
To be fair there were almost 9.3k Draco/Harry fics and almost 13k Sirius/Remus fics in 2025 so it's also for gayslop or whatever we're calling it these days.

i’m gonna cry it’s raining right now and i just passed by a family where both parents were without an umbrella but their kid who couldn’t have been older than like 3-4 was proudly holding this GIANT umbrella whose diameter was as tall (if not taller) as the kid. both the parents were getting absolutely drenched but u could tell the kid was just so happy to have an “adult” task and carry the umbrella themselves and i think that sacrifice is what love is all about

>Predominately Black led piece of media becomes popular.
>Among the characters there are one or two White characters with minor and/or distinctly antagonistic roles.
>White tumblr users focus entirely on said White characters.
>Tag of Black led piece of media is filled with posts about White character(s)
>Rinse. Repeat.
I think the most charitable interpretation of this is that people connect to characters that are like them, and that the experiences of Blackness is so alien to them that the White characters are the only ones that White people connect with. Combine that with the fact that Tumblr is so White as a platform, and you get this issue.
It’s still bad and racist, but it is understandable. People should still do better though. (I’m not trying to justify, I’m trying to come up with an explanation)
Please don’t make me say it.
We don't need you coming up with an charitable interpretation.

"I've never heard of Megan Thee Stallion before" if you've ever said any variation of "Hot Girl Summer" then congratulations you've benefitted from an internationally popular Black female artist's creativity
"I thought those were just memes" yeah y'all tend to do this to a lot of things Black people create and/or do, while conveniently cutting them out in the process. You should really consider how easy it was and why that is. I do have a suggestion.
crazy how if you do your chores and obligations first thing on a day off you can enjoy your free time more than if you feel like you’re procrastinating your chores and obligations the whole time. i will not be learning from this experience
I love when people ask "how did you learn this skill?" I just started, there's no secret. that's it. a vast majority of the time the only thing holding you back is your trepidation to start.
