Normally after a long day of work, heâd just go home, climb in bed and just watch stupid movies for hours on end until he finally fell asleep. But tonight was different, he knew Artemis was out with her friends and he figured heâd go out for a drink or two and then call it a night. But upon seeing his cousin he figured heâd mess with her some, being that she just turned twenty-one recently. He couldnât help but to give her a fake look of shock, looking around at the other bar stools with a chuckle. âI donât know what youâre talking about, your hair stands out enough I would have seen you.â He teased, shrugging his shoulders lightly before he took the empty bottle from her, scrunching up his nose at the brand. âIf your taste in beer is this shitty, Iâm gonna make sure you drink decent enough beer. I might add you to the lists of nut jobs Iâve helped a million times, though. Because you all have a tendency to keep fucking up.â He said with a grin, raising a brow. âNot only that, but mom still thinks she needs to hand me money left and right. Lawyer money did not ply for my house in the slightest. But I guess I can buy drinks for my family, thatâs a nice thing to do, right?â
âWell, you have to remember that Iâm poor as fuck so I donât have the budget to drink decent enough beer. The âshittyâ kind is just fine for me when Iâm paying my own bill,â She laughed, âBut if you want to pay the extra difference and pick up the tab then please, show me the ways of the finer beers Iâve been missing out on,â Addie smiled at him, still chuckling a bit.Â
When he mentioned his mother, it made her think of her own, who she hadnât heard from since her parents had kicked her to the curb 6 years ago. It hit her hard in the chest. Roman was getting money from his mom that he hadnât even asked for and Addieâs parents had ignored her desperate beg for help at 18 when she had nowhere to live and no money to spend. It stung realizing again just how much her parents hated her, and how much they truly had disowned her.
She kept the smile on her face though, not letting it falter,âYeah, thatâs a nice thing to do. You do a lot of nice things for me and I would love to say Iâll repay you one day but honestly-- what could I ever give you that you havenât already got?â She teased a bit, although there was a bit of reality to that statement.
