Here’s an excerpt from the new chapter!
In normal times, pride would’ve caused Sofia to turn away and sneak down to grab the first aid kit, refusing to allow anyone to see to her and her bloody hand. But she was getting lightheaded, and desperate times called for desperate measures.
“Hey!” She called out, strained.
Loki turned slowly, looking at Sofia out of the corner of his eye.
“I…the…” Sofia could barely get the words out. She took a breath and attempted to steady herself, trying not to look too weak in front of him.
“There’s a first aid kit in your room under the sink,” She managed to say. “Can you…I need…”
Loki fully turned to her, and his eyes widened slightly as he saw the blood spilling out of her hands. Still, he said nothing but did quickly enter his room.
Sofia had barely had a chance to think about if Loki would actually help her as she stumbled back into her room. Right before she collapsed on the couch, Loki surprisingly appeared in her doorway, the already-opened first aid kit in his hand.
“Thanks,” Sofia managed to say, taking the kit from him with her bloody hand and not making eye contact. She staggered to the couch and attempted to open one of the extra large bandaids, but the blood was too heavy and her hands too slippery.
“Fuck,” Sofia whined under her breath, not realizing Loki was still standing in the doorway, looming awkwardly with an uncomfortable look on his face.
“Can you…please,” She held up the bandaid, not caring about her pride at the moment as she was bleeding and Loki was still standing in her rooms
Loki, seemingly snapping back into it, hastily walked over to her, sat down on the couch, and took the bandaid from her bloody hand.
The next few moments were silent, the only sounds being the crinkling of the bandaid wrapper and the small gasps that Sofia let out when Loki somehow knew to press an alcohol pad to her wound, and again when he lightly wrapped his hand around her shaking wrist.
It was…and interesting dynamic, to have Loki attending to her wound. But Sofia didn’t mind it…mostly because she needed the help.
“This is a minor injury” Loki finally said under his breath as he continued to dab at her cut. “If you would like… it can be easily healed.”
Sofia, still in pain so not fully understanding what Loki meant but needing the relief, just nodded, her eyes wrenched shut. Expecting a burn similar to when she felt the alcohol sting her wound, she was surprised to suddenly feel a cool sensation on the wound, the energy coming back to her while the pain simultaneously subsided, replaced by a pleasant tingle.
When she opened her eyes, she sharply inhaled at the sight. Gone was the excessive blood and even a wound. Her wrist looked good as new.
“How’d you do that?” Sofia asked, astonished, looking at Loki.
“I…am not often susceptible to minor injuries, due to my chemical makeup, “ Loki mused softly, still looking at her wrist. “I can pass that healing along to others if needed.”
Sofia suddenly remembered how Loki had healed Tony and Pepper’s faces back in Malibu.
“Thank you,” Sofia said, realizing that Loki was still gripping her wrist.
Loki seemed to realize at the same time, quickly removing his hand and standing up.
Sofia was still inspecting her wrist closely, but when she noticed that Loki was almost at the door, her head snapped up.
“Wait!” She called out, not sure what was getting into her. Maybe it was the instant rejuvenation.
“I…” She paused as Loki turned around, a curious look on his face, and Sofia was unsure if this was too much. But it was just an exchange for his helping her.
Plus, she was oddly…touched, by the fact that Loki had stayed to watch and help rather than just give her the kit.
“I made dinner,” she mustered, forcing a small smile on her face. “Do you want some?”
