âŸOh, right, he wanted her to be scared. Hm, if she pretended to be now though itâd only look like she was mocking him. Instead she looked around, as if she didnât want anyone to overhear her before leaning closer and lowering her voice.âœ
âThis is a secret but I donât get scared of anybody anymore, just like you.â
âbullshit, there canât really be anyone else like me, Iâm some sort of fucked up anomalyâÂ
Whatever Shou had expected out of his only friend his ageâs mother, Kil most likely wouldnât be so. It would also be a miracle if she was able to handle him, and Shou did what he did best, test peoples patience.Â
âI like you! When the world is mine, your death shall be quick and painless!â -- @fxnaliskids (younger shou @ kil)
âFucking superb you funky little goth child!â
âWhat! No! youâre supposed to fear me!â As if what he was saying wasnât coming from an edgy 12 year oldÂ

preciousghostchild:
âYou donât like him?â She repeated. âIs that allowed?â
He certainly seemed strange, but he was being nice to her so she found that she more or less trusted him. To be fair, she gave her trust to people easily, a lot too easily but that was to be expected from someone as young as she.
When he informed her it was a gift her eyes widened a bit and she held it close, tearing up a bit. âThis isâŠthis is for me? Th..thank you so much sirâŠ.â She carefully took a tiny bite and glanced up at him to make sure she wasnât doing something bad. She just wanted to be good, safe preferably, and happy. She didnât think she deserved those things exactly, but she wanted them desperately.
âUm how come you seem soâŠdifferent?â she asked curiously. "The other slaves Iâve met areâŠtheyâre really quietâŠa..and kinda scared like me butâŠyouâre not? How come? Are you magic or something?â
Confidence was not something she was used to experiencing in people similar to her. Confidence only was seen in the rich and powerful, people like her master or the other Nervas. Seeing this young man being so nonchalant, so confident, was surprising to her and for the first time someone had earned her respect instead of just demanding obedience.Â
âNo one said you had to like your mastersâ, he responded, âbesides, Iâve never liked people like himâÂ
In all honesty Shou was only acting how the others in the underground taught him to, he didnât have anyone to go off of other then them. And the people down there where either slaves who had disobeyed him so much or slaves that where violent to him and the other slave owners, although it was mostly the ladder. So he didnât really exactly know how to go about this sort of thing in the right way, only doing what he felt was right.Â
âNo problemâ he answered in the same relaxed and unbothered tone he was so used to speaking in. When she looked up at him for his approval to eat the fruit he simply stared back down at her, eating his own fruit.Â
In all honesty the question surprised him, he ran his thumbs across the half eaten apple in his hands, thinking about her question.
âI guess itâs causeâ I donât really care, I donât care to listen to orders and commands, so I donât. Just causeâ Iâm his slave doesnât mean I have to listen to him, it may be a law but I just really donât care about that law. So what if I break it, itâll only go down on my masters criminal recordâÂ
preciousghostchild:
âYou donât want to serve your master?â She asked curiously. âHow come?â
She hadnât met too many other slaves, just a few of the ones serving her master, and they didnât have much time for her so she didnât really know how thy felt towards him.
In all honesty she didnât know how she felt either. Sure, he treated her worse than her parents did, but at least he wanted her for something, and when she was good and he was in a good mood he let her have food to eat and even the worst parts of his home where better than anything sheâd known before. Because she didnât really realize just how poorly she was treated, she thought she should feel grateful and happy that she had been bought by this man. Freedom unfortunately was something sheâd never really experienced safely.
When he gave her the apple she blinked, picking it up and handing it back up to him. âOh s..sorry sir you dropped this.â She didnât realize it was for her since she wasnât used to be given things. Â
âDonât like him, simple as thatâ, responded Shou. In all honesty the black haired boy hatted Nerva from the moment heâd bought him, seeing how he smirked when the deal was done. It made Shou want to punch him, but he couldnât, so he thought making the idiot princeâs live a living hell would work.Â
Shou cared vary little for the other slaves, hell he cared vary little for anyone. Ever since he was kidnapped, he just, stopped caring. He could rarely feel the same emotions as others, not feeling much of a connection. Although he tried his damnedest to be nice to kids like her, although he was the youngest one in the underground cells and it was hard to tell whoâs slave was whoâs in the castle.Â
He didnât move at all, simply taking a bite out of his apple. Damn, how badly did this kid have to suffer to the point she didnât even understand what a gift was?!Â
âItâs for youâ, he said in his steady neutral tone
preciousghostchild:
HmâŠmay..maybe if..if you tri..tried to be better youâdâŠyouâd make..make your m..master happierâŠa..and you wouldnâtâŠwouldnât be punished?â She advised, although it was more a question than anything.
At his question, Nomi hung her head in shame. "M..my masterâŠmaster SebastâŠSebastipillowsâŠâ She blushed then. âI..I canât say it.â She almost starting crying. âI..I can n..never say his name and heâŠhe gets really mad and heâŠhe punishes me a lot and I just..I just want to make him happyâŠbut Iâm worthless.â
Nomi felt awful in that moment quite honestly. She was no better than this guy if she couldnât make her master happy right? She didnât really remember what freedom was like and due to what she was constantly being subjected to she blamed herself for everything her master inflicted on her when he was bored or unhappy.
âNah, listening to that idiots commands is the last thing on my list of things Iâd actively want to doâ he said as he pulled his legs back up, pulling his kneeâs to his chest.
He simply stared down at her, watching as she attempted to say her masters complicated name. But failing miserably at it, not being able to do so. âSebastian, itâs close enough anywayâ he reached behind him for one of the apples he had swiped from the kitchen. âWell, then he can go fuck himselfâ Shou exclaimed as he bit into the apple, juice getting onto his tattered shirt.Â
Feeling slightly sympathetic for the poor kid, he reached behind him once again. Dropping the apple so it fell onto her head, getting her attention. Shou stared down at her with a blank expression, continuing to eat his apple
preciousghostchild:
âAah yeah I suppose, I always send her off though..it just slipped my mindâŠâ Kil mused.
When Kil noticed the spoon, she sighed and pulled it out, she burned her hand in the process but didnât even flinch. âOwâŠâ She said numbly, looking at her red hand before going and running it over some cold water.
âItâs unlikely theyâll even notice sheâs missing in their drunken stateâŠbut if they do come looking weâll just hide her in the Nadjiâs room I guessâŠin the meantime can you get her a blanket and set her down on the couch there? She must be exhaustedâŠâ
Nomi was pretty tired, although she wasnât willing to admit it. Peeking her head up, she whispered into Kaidâs ear. âWh..who is that? A..and wonât master be mad i..if I hide from him?â She asked timidly, not fully grasping what was happening.Â
Kaid chuckled at his sister and her constant need to be both over in Kou and on an adventure, she never seemed happy staying in one place for too long. âWell, thatâs Nadji for you isnât it!âÂ
The white haired fanalis watched his mother catch the spoon from out of the pot, being used to seeing her do both stupid and drastic things like that. He knew that she wouldnât be too hurt as she had gone through worse and had made that vary obvious to them since they where kids.Â
He nodded at his mothers plans and suggestions, wondering if Nadji would give up Nomi once she found out that she was staying in her room. His older sister would probably cling to Nomi, scaring her at the same time.Â
Kaid came back from his zoning off into thought when Nomi whispered into his ear. He giggled when she asked the question, âthatâs my mom, Kil, sheâs an ex slave just like you. Your master wont even know your gone, or with us, everything is going to be okay!â
preciousghostchild:
Nomi was scared until she saw his shackles, then she frowned and poked the ones on his ankles. âHow come you have so many?â She asked quietly. âAre you bad or is master mean?âÂ
At his question she averted her gaze. âY..yeahâŠI..I need to get back to master Sebasti..sebastpillowsâŠâ She always tripped up on his name, something he taunted her for constantly. "B..but I..I got lost andâŠand ifâŠif I..If I donât find my way back heâllâŠheâll punish me.â
Her masterâs punishments were never normal. She never knew what to expect, but it was always excruciating. The only reason she was dressed so nicely, and hadnât been beaten for whatever reason he made up on the spot, was because they were in public and he was distracted.
In truth heâd gotten her at discount from her mother and just tormented her when he was bored, because of this she was genuinely scared of him, although sometimes he treated her nicely to mess with her head, so she also had a strange fondness for him.Â
Shou continued to kick his feet back and forth ever so slightly, âEh, bit of both I guess. Iâm a trouble child and Nervaâs a prickâ.Â
The black haired boy was a bit confused as to who she was talking about, tilting his head in confusion. âSebasti-who now? who the heck are you talking about kid?â, Shou questioned, knowing almost nothing about the other Nervaâs. Since he was almost always locked up in those damn underground cells, well he guessed it couldnât be helped since he never listened long enough to be moved out of them.
Shou, who was a squirmy little shit was known among the slaves of the royal castle for being able to run out and away from his punishments. Always finding a way to somehow get out of them. The punishment instructors had given up on trying with him, choosing to just take away his food until he sneaked out and stole from the pantry.
He had honestly only ever seen Nerva pissed off with him, and when he was roaming around the castle when he escaped. Personally heâd never even heard of the other Nervaâs.
preciousghostchild:
Kil nodded. âOh yeah thatâs rightâŠI donât know how I forgot thatâŠit must be the constant working and then the fight with NervaâŠdamn.â
Kil was currently working with Titus to abolish slavery in Reim, which was going to be a long and difficult process, but a worthwhile one. Titus handled the politics side of it, considering he was the one with the jurisdiction and he was quickly gaining experience, whereas Kil was developing the program they would institute to help ex slaves recover and to live better lives, and together they were trying to come up with ways to further battle the discrimination against ex slaves.
Unfortunately, Nerva had found out about this, and was bothering Kil to no end about it. Kil, not one to back down especially to Nerva, had ended up going to blows with him just a few weeks earlier and while Titus had overlooked the incident, she knew she couldnât afford to start anymore fights with him if she wanted to keep her job.
Upon hearing about Nomi, Kil quickly shut and locked the door to their wing of the palace and then sighed with relief. âOhâŠthatâs goodâŠIâm proud of youâŠbut weâll need to hide her for a while.â
Nomi for her part, peeked up at Kil curiously before hiding her face again anxiously. Â
âItâs normal to wake up with Nadji already on a boat to Kou, it happens all the time. I donât think sheâs been in Reim for more then a week for over two yearsâ he sighed, his sister was a weird one. Although the news of his mother getting into a fist fight with Nerva was normal. Although heâs never met Nerva himself, Kil and Shou have, and from their interactions with him he knew to avoid the fellow prince.
Kaid watched as his mother dropped the soup spoon right into the soup she was just stirring after kneading bread, he watched the spoon bounce around in the boiling broth.Â
He rubbed the side of his head with his hand bashfully when his mother complimented him, she was vary vocal about being against slavery. So it was no surprise to him to hear her compliment him on how he saved a slave child.Â
âHaha...thanks mom!â
preciousghostchild:
Nodding, Nomi cuddled him happily as they made there way to the kitchen.
Kil, who was in the private kitchen they had in their part of the palace, was trying yet again to remember what the chefs had been teaching her and she was finally getting the hang of it. Kil was great with memorizing recipes, great and the science aspect of cooking, she justâŠalways burnt everything it was like a curse.
She was muttering indignantly to herself as she struggled with the dough she was making for bread, in the fire she had a pot of stew cooking.
Upon hearing someone enter, she turned to see her son, and smiled. âOh Kaid, there you areâŠwhereâs your sister do you know?â She groaned. âPlease tell me your father isnât getting drunk againâŠnever mind donât worry about thatâŠâ
Kil spotted Nomi then, who was hiding her face in Kaidâs shirt, and frowned. âOhâŠwhoâs that? Is she okay?â
Kaid held Nomi as she cuddled in, petting the top of her head on impulse. He was holding her as softly as possible as to not squeeze her to tight and hurt her.Â
Once he walked into the kitchen he saw his struggling mother, she could remember an entire cook book but when the time came to actually cook she was helpless.Â
He laughed awkwardly at the mention of his drunken father, currently driving the Nervaâs up a wall and to where his sister is. âhaha funny enough, Nadji left for Kou again this morning....againâ.Â
He looked back down at the tiny human bundle cuddling into his shirt that was Nomi, he stopped petting her head once Kil pointed her out.Â
âUm well.....sheâs uh......â he leaned in and whispered into his mothers ear. âSheâs kinda a slave child I stole, she belongs to one of the Nervasâ

Shou just stared at him for a few seconds, not really knowing how to respond to the mans hostility. He wasnât even all that loud when he asked his question, and he didnât usually ask to be peoples body guard. It was just that he had seen this man before, and he had interested him.Â
Shou sighed after he whispered into his ear, standing up he leaning his spear on his shoulder once again. âSure thingâ he responded in a blank tone.Â
