“Sharena?” Alfonse was rather surprised to see his little sister up at this hour. Normally she’d either be in the study or in her room, either way she was typically asleep at this hour. Alfonse didn’t entirely know what was wrong with her.. Perhaps it was the recent fight? However, his maternal instints kicked in. He approached her and smiled at her.

“Is everything alright?” He asked in a quieter voice. Didn’t need to attract attention of any of the thieves or assassins their summoner had called upon.

🚩⚔️🚩 “A-Alphonse?”

Oh. This was . . . unexpected. She’d expected her brother to be sleep tonight. It certainly wasn’t a night he’d volunteered for watch of the castle.

Certainly, it ruined her plans for the night. She had wanted to see if she could meet with some of the more night owls of the castle, the Heroes who wished to remain elusive. Even them, she was determined to become friends with! Especially that new one with the purple hair who stayed up all hours possible in the library, researching. What was her name, Lute? She was so elusive and aloof, and beautiful too-

But she was getting ahead of herself.

“U-Um I’m fine. Really. I was just . . . heading out. To. The library?” She offered, her answer sounding more like a question than anything.

Sharena skidded in her tracks, heels sinking into the carpet of the Askran castle. Ah! There she was! Another new face to make friends with, and a special one at that! A Princess from the legendary realm of ice! Oh, Sharena wanted to hear everything about a place where snow fell without end! She dashed to the new arrival’s side, matching her pace. “Hey! I’m, um, happy to see you up and about! Getting a sense for the castle yet?”

          “As much as I can. It’s quite vast… I mean. I’ve of course lived in a place

           this large before, but not quite arranged like this.”    Her gaze shifted up from where she was polishing her lance, then back down

   to it again. She had polished it until it gleamed from the sunlight coming in from

   the window.

          “I’m forever in your debt. My sincerest gratitude for taking me in.”

🚩⚔️🚩 “Of course! It’s another resident in an otherwise empty castle. After all, before all of these Heroes showed up, it was just me, Alphonse, and Commander Anna. My home is yours now. It’s no castle in the middle of a flurry of snow, but I promise you’re as part of this family as everyone else, Fjorm.” The blonde hummed happily, bouncing down onto the windowsill, marveling at the ice-like blade of Leiptr. She preferred her own lance, of course, but she even now could picture Fjrom leaping into battle, gleaming like the ice itself.

“Have you had a chance to eat any food? I’m sure there’s some leftovers from last night’s dinner kept cold. A lot of people here eat at unusual hours, so the staff keeps plenty of scraps handy.”
