Hmm... what was it like, seeing the soft boi Steven as a giant, spiky lizard thing?

“What it was like…?” 

She speaks so softly it’s hard to hear. Her body language tenses up like a coiled spring, though her eyes drooped like exhaustion threatened to wash over her. 

“I knew that look…”

“Stars, I knew that look in his eyes. How much it must have hurt-” Her throat tightens, cutting her voice for a moment. 

“Like lookin’ into some fun-house mirror. He must have been so afraid…”

Spinel gives pause as if she’s done. Then, oh so softly, between clenched teeth she utters her final thoughts,

“He looked just like me.”

“Huh, can’t believe ya missed me so much…” Still, there’s a faint smile on her face. Knowing someone was waiting for her felt… nice.
