Welcome to fy-unplugged, a fanpage for Unplugged. We post anything and everything related to Unplugged, Mount Records' first idol pop/rock band. Unplugged is a South Korean Pop/Rock band under the label MNT Records. They currently consist of 5 members after going through a few lineup changes. Unplugged was created in late 2016 though they didn’t make their debut until almost a year later. Through busking events and unofficial events created by the label they were able gain popularity pre-debut until they finally made theirs. During the making of the group, they were given a band meets dance concept, combining the aspect of a band with the well-liked and known boy dance group idea. However after rethinking that said concept they decided to change it and stick solely to a band concept. With strong vocals and talent members that shine in various aspects, the group is a well-rounded and promising one.

UNPLUGGED’S REX HOLDS A V-LIVE TO TALK COMEBACK AND FUTURE PLANS

Despite having the v-live being scheduled for last week, Rex has finally taken time to address the rumors spiraling around Unplugged, their comeback and the future for the group. He also spent time answering questions from fans.

‘Hey everyone, this is Unplugged’s Rex and BUZZ #1 fan. You’ve been waiting for us right? It seems like a short time ago we were getting things together for this album. And we’re breaking all out promises again, I hope everyone can forgive us for that. This album is going to be really special because all of us worked hard on it. Unlike our [debut] album, we wrote the lyrics for every song, I helped with composing half of them and we learned how to produce them ourselves.’

cngskr: so the comeback is 100% over?

not 100%. it’s being moved back due to complications. if everything works out, it’ll be out this month. thank you

maknaetk: last time, someone asked for a song preview, can you give us one?

haha, benji hyung gave the best one! how about: ‘is anyone there?’ i’m not going to sing it because that’s a huge hint. 

jeansjeans: how different will this album be from the debut?

well, there’s more tracks. we all worked on it and it’s been in the works since before our debut. and the sounds is totally different. 

daddymoonie: ahh, can you say hello to your fans in the UK? also, i heard a rumor about the lineup changing?

mntppl: future plans for you and unplugged?

hmm, for myself, i’m going to be perform in clubs around hongdae, seoul, ulsan, busan and somewhere else.  i also released a album of sorts on soundcloud the other day. so that’s it for me. with the boys, we’re filming a new mv for our album, planning things for BUZZ. a lot of new ideas coming out in the future. thank you!

UNPLUGGED’S BENJI HOLDS A V-LIVE TO SPEND VALENTINESDAY AND HIS BIRTHDAY WITH BUZZ!

On the 14th of February also known as Valentinesday, Unplugged’s oldest member Benji held yet another V-live to spend not only Valentinesday with fans but also his Birthday by answering some questions and talking to those that joined.

Aside from answering to the questions asked by fans, Benji also talked about his Birthday being the same day as Valentinesday; ‘I don’t mind it being on the same day, sometimes it’s a bit confusing but usually I get twice the amount of chocolates just because of that!’ He later on touched upon the confirmation of Unplugged’s comeback by telling fans to sit tight and wait just a little longer because it’s almost there!

After being asked if he has a valentines for the day, he responded with. ‘I don’t.. or maybe I do, Buzz are my valentinesdates of course! That’s why I’m here today, to spend my birthday and valentinesday with you guys, so those who don’t have one won’t have to be lonely!’  Another fan followed by asking ‘What are you going to do today?’ to which he answered ‘Not much, I’m getting ready for a comeback so I think we’ll be practicing like usual, I’ll probably call my parents also and talk to them for a bit.’

UNPLUGGED’S BENJI AND KAMELLE’S MICHELLE GET TOGETHER FOR A Q&A IN LATEST V-LIVE

After his last V-live and announcement of changing his stagename, Unplugged’s Benji came together with fellow labelmate Michelle from the girlgroup Kamelle to hold a Q&A session V-live, answering some of the fans questions, hinting even more at Unplugged’s comeback and a possible Kamelle comeback as well? 

Daddymoonie: Will you guys be having comebacks this year? 

‘Kamelle definitely hope to have at least one! We usually tend to have a long time between releases since we're always busy learning new skills for our performances. Our Sweets will be looking forward to it, right?’  -- Michelle

‘Well, we’ve been working hard.. there’s been a lot of changes since our last comeback but we’re definitely coming back... I can say soon right? Yeah, very soon! We may not be able to show you new dancing skills.. but we have to introduce you to our new Guitarist officially right?’  -- Benji

Kamchelle: What things do you have on your bucketlist?

‘Travelling! I haven't been back to the United States in a long time so I really wanna go back, it'd be fun with the rest of our group as well for sure! I think doing a world tour of some sort would be really cool too, I'd love to see all sorts of places that I haven't been to before!’  -- Michelle

‘For Unplugged, I think we want the same thing. It’d be great to visit new places and fans all over the world. I see a lot of different country names pop by. We would also like to have our first win? That’d be amazing.’  -- Benji

DDoong23: We want to see you collab, will you ever collab?

‘That would be fun! I'll drag Benji to our group's next recording session and get him as a last-minute feature, haha.’  -- Michelle

‘No, never. I wouldn’t want to collab with you (To Michelle)...-- I’m kidding, If that’s what you guys want I’m sure we can do something, right? We used to sing together a lot during trainee days but we both got too busy! Maybe we can do a youtube thing together? I’m sure we can work something out! But you guys should tweet us what you want us to do then.’  -- Benji

99_ahyn: What were your New Years resolutions / Have you stuck with them? 

‘Does anyone ever really keep their resolutions.. I don’t think I’ve ever stuck with mine..’  -- Benji

‘Mine was really cheesy, and it was to "do my best" in everything I try to achieve this year. I think I've stuck with it? We'll have to wait and see, I suppose!’  -- Michelle

UNPLUGGED’S KUNO ANNOUNCES HE’S CHANGING HIS STAGE NAME DURING A SOLO V-LIVE

On the 3rd of February, Member of Unplugged ‘Kuno’ announced during a solo v-live session that he’s planning on changing his stage name from ‘Kuno’ to his English name ‘Benji’. Explaining that he feels ‘Kuno’ isn’t a name that suits him as well as he hoped he would and that he feels more comfortable going by his English given name instead.

After starting up a solo v-live, the oldest member of Unplugged started out by talking about the band’s plans for 2018. While it has been rumoured for a little while, he confirmed they will indeed be having a comeback this year and are working hard for it. Telling fans to stay seated and await for the official details to be released. 

He continued the stream by pointing out that he felt his Stage name wasn’t one that suited him well. While he said he picked the name because he wanted a stronger image and felt like it was a cool and memorable name, he later continued by saying it feels off and that it’s not a name that suits him as much as he hoped he would. After suggesting that he wanted to go by his English given name (which he used while studying in America for a few years) which is Benji, fans in the comments agreed with him leaving him to state that he was going to change his stage name from Kuno to Benji officially, and that it had been something he had been talking about with his label for a little while. 

The same day, after the session ended he officially updated Unplugged’s fancafe with a small message saying ‘From now on out, I will be promoting as Benji instead of Kuno. Please support this decision, we will be meeting soon again!’ Fans took notice that his information on Mount Records’ official website and Unplugged’s official website had all been updated to ‘Benji’ already. Let’s support Unplugged’s Benji!

Weeks after their New Years event, Rex broke what seemed like radio silence for the group by posting a cover of Troye Sivan’s Too Good. Near the end of the video, a hand written note is shown to the camera that reads: 나 근처에 서 주셔서 감사합니다.

UNPLUGGED HOLDS BUSKING EVENT TO END THE YEAR!

To end the year with a blast, rookie band Unplugged decided to hold a new year’s eve busking event! The five member band came together at the Coex Mall where they performed a few covers of fellow labelmates and other artists, including some of their debut album. The group announced that they wanted to end the year on a good note and therefor decided to hold the free event on the last day of 2017.

Not only was this a special performance because it marks the end of 2017 as it is, but also because newly added member ‘Liam’ would be making his first official appearance alongside his fellow members since he was announced to be joining the band just weeks prior. Including an official welcome and introduction of the member, they also showcased some of their special talents and announced they were planning on making a comeback soon!

We are here to witness Kang Jaemoon getting old, and to celebrate that we have messages from a few of his friends to wish him the best during these last few years of his life. Liam noted that it was a gift to himself—not only did he have fun putting it together, but he couldn’t wait to show the fans his talent, too!

“The most exciting thing about [all of] this is the atmosphere. There’s a difference between getting on or off stage, being in front of a crowd and then standing in front of a camera - one that not a lot of people talk about or imagine. [It’s] different, a bit scary and confusing since I’ve never done this before, but I’m willing to try it out for as long as they let me. […] This all happened by accident, if you ask me. I wasn’t trying to become a model or do anything like this. But I  showed up to support someone who used to work under Mount and they saw me, asked me to pose and then they wanted to talk about signing me. It was weird and I was worried it would ruin things for Unplugged. It took me weeks to give them an answer because I needed to put our music first and this second or even last.”

An editor for Killry was able to sit down with  Jaemoon and ask about his future plans, his group and the meaning behind his moniker.

Killry: Who and what is ‘Rex’? Jaemoon: Rex is…I don’t want to say my persona on stage but he’s someone who knows what he wants. He doesn’t  mess around and he’s really all about music. He’s Unplugged’s Rex first and foremost. [he laughs] K: Do you see yourself modelling full time? J: No. Mainly because I came here for my music. Modeling, acting or anything that isn’t music is on the back burner until fate removes it from me. K: How did [Unplugged] react to the news? J: I’m not sure. We haven’t really talked about it yet. Kwangji did wish me luck before he [departed] so there’s that. K: Any more plans? J: Can’t go spilling secrets, now can I?

“In good faith, I can’t say that I’m  more important than anyone. Sure, I might think that but in reality I’m just me. A guy with 3 other dudes in a band and a dream. Now, I just added [modeling] to the mix, not to be different or because I want to create distance, but to get us out there. We all have our thing to help push us. This might and could be mine. […] When everything was finalized, I panicked for three hours before I knew it was going to go public and I remember thinking, ‘Oh god, this could ruin us.’ I wanted to take it back because I wasn’t sure how anyone would take it. Our fans are everything to us and I didn’t want them to think I was leaving or something bad was happening.”

Hello !!! (<@u@<) i’m writing this  for everyone who missed the busking event. Haha,  i went each day before i’m a huge fan of the group. My bias is….the leader? He’s cute right? Ah and then tk. Yes i love them both haha. My oppas. I showed up to (the) station around 12 because i wanted to see them set up and take pictures. Didn’t get a lot on the first day but saturday was better. My twitter (//////) has them all. They looked good. Sounds perfect live. Our boys are very talented, don’t you think?

FRIDAY -  SINCHON

So on friday, they got there late and set up really fast with one of their managers i think? Tk kept waving to everyone and asking if everyone ate. Our ace, he kept smiling whenever someone called his name. Ahh my heart...really….i died. Mmm rex didn’t interact much with anyone. He kept putting his head down, fiddling with his (keyboard) and talking to the guys. He did ask if it was too cold and then make a joke about doing something inside one day. Chandler! Chandler was the coolest. He arrived first and stayed until most of their things were packed around with tk. He was so nice. Honestly they are all nice. But chandler...haha

They didn’t perform a lot of songs because it was late. Only 4 before asking if (we) wanted to hear something else. At this point someone asked them to keep singing.

음량을 높이다 which is still awesome! At one point, rex, chandler and tk switched parts while ace kept laughing. It was nice.

Young & Free only the last part which they let ace and tk sing. tk’s voice...ahhh with ace it sounds so nice. really  wanted to hear them more.

Geek In Pink by jason mraz !! chandler sang this mostly but ace did the backing (?) and tk rapped.

Downpour by i.o.i OKAY i fell in love with them all over again. These boys gave it their all. The highnotes were rough but i love them for trying. I didn’t expect tk to sing but they let him sing too! Which okay. I love it need more haha

SATURDAY - HONGDAE

THE BEST DAY! I spotted a few people from Double Kill this time and almost ran away! But i’m glad i stood my ground because god. Everyone had such a good time, all the BUZZ that came out really out did themselves and i’ve never been so proud.

This time, ace came out first and everyone started cheering for him. He laughed and then asked if we could wish happy birthday to ‘his son’ tk which !!! YES. everyone came up and we sung for tk. Ahh truly...it was nice. I cried.

음량을 높이다 and Young & Free mash up? Or a mix? It was really cool though! There were fans that sung along and tried to get a fanchant started. BUZZ is great and so is UNPLUGGED

There Goes My Baby by Usher my  heart nearly stopped. It was so sudden. Rex played his keys while chandler sang with tk and ace. Pretty sure everyone was crying. Tk and ace english sounded great but….i’m not too sure since i barely speak it haha. But still great

Roly poly by t-ara not sure if this counts. The music played and they sung along but no one played their instruments? Rex and tk did attempt to dance at one part (my video!!) but only until chandler started laughing.

Good boy by gd and taeyang this was...bad. The sound was weird and no one seemed to be into it. A few fans got up and rocked with them but for the most part it was….not good. Huuuu

Lucky night by rex tk rapped, rex and chandler did vocals and ace played. He did sing at one part (video!!) but other than that, he kept strumming. My bias everyone haha

Rhythm ta by ikon super good. I loved the rap parts best because tk seemed really proud of himself. Before the song started, (tk) confessed he was worried about it because he wasn’t used to rapping like that. Daebakkkkk~ such a cute and talented maknae.

Lean On Me by Mellow’s June VOCALS. rex and ace did most of the vocals for this one. it was really cute. i want them to perform this with june one day

The band performed Young & Free and Free하게 for their stages at the charity event. Rex also performed a version of ‘Blue Moon’ with Spiced’s Gemi.
