I realize I'm about 8 months late to the party but I finished Clockwork Princess last night (well, 6am this morning, but still...) It seems ridiculous to put this under read more for spoilers at this stage, so if you've not read the book, then don't read this just in case there's anything spoilery.
I've decided I'm changing my blog title, from 'F Yeah, Cassandra Clare' to 'F You, Cassandra Clare'. I have literally never cried as hard at a book in my life. Man, even TFiOS was easier to bear than CP2. I don't even know where to begin with writing my thoughts down, so much happened and my brain is currently slightly mashed. I read a spoiler a few months ago that Will died, and I can't lie, I spent the whole book dreading it. Obviously, I had no details, so every time he went running off into something dangerous, I was freaking terrified that it would be the end. Of course, I am absolutely thrilled to have been so, so wrong.
Jem, Jem, Jem. I did not expect that, let me tell you know. I was kinda overjoyed when he gave his little speech about how he was going to be selfish for once, although at the same time, I thought he was going to die so the joy was muffled by sobs. However, I wasn't really shocked when he showed up in that cavern. Like, I found it hard to believe that he'd give up that easily, and I'm pretty sure Jem couldn't be selfish if he tried.
I don't think I ever made any secret of the fact that, prior to CP2, I was a Will and Tessa girl. I never ever thought I'd be praying so hard for Jem and Tessa to just get bloody married! I'm absolutely certain now that I couldn't choose between the two of them, and I honestly think that the ending was amazing, it gave everyone what they wanted. The thing that Tessa said in the epilogue about how she couldn't love one as much as she did without her deep love for the other seems to ring a bell with fans too.
I loved that we got about 80 pages after the climax and rescue of everyone from the cavern, that was filled with everyone recovering and just trying to regain a sense of normality, and if not happiness straight away, then at least adjusting to the new order). I can't pretend that I didn't spend all of it wondering where the next horrific event was coming from (I mean, 80 pages with no violent attacks and subsequent gory deaths in TID - surely that's some kind of record?), but still, it was nice.
Also, SOPHIE, OH MY GOD! About time, that girl so deserves some happiness.
I'm pretty sure this doesn't make all that much sense but hey ho. I'll leave it there.
Oh yeah, and I don't really like Cecily, oh dear.
