Except for the fact that a lot of those notes are out of a flute’s range.
nothing is out of a flute’s range if you try hard enough
Is it better to align the center of your embouchure hole with the keys, or the top edge of your embouchure hole with the keys? Is there a large difference?
I had to think about this for a second but I personally probably line the top of the hole with the keys (maybe even further) as opposed to doing the center of the embouchure hole in line with the keys.
I think it boils down to what you're comfortable with. As long as you're not putting the flute together or holding it in a way that could cause you pain from long-term playing or make your dexterity suffer, it's up to you.

Went car shopping today, picked out the car I'm gonna buy. The three letters on the license plate are PIA, naturally the first thing I associated that with was Piazzolla.
Flute major things: Propping up your Baxtresser excerpt book so that her judgmental photograph pushes you to practice harder.
Moyse all day, every day.
I can't do orchestra this semester because I got a job that conflicts with it but I found out they're doing Schubert 8 and now I'm so jealous.
Random picture: my piano stand has had this excerpt from Scheherazade open for weeks now.

Summer update
Hey guys, I'm sorry it's been so long since I've posted or even reblogged anything. I went on a trip to Seattle last week and started a new job that has me working five days a week. Orchestra has been out since May and I haven't been able to play in flute choir since January. Sadly my flute has gone relatively unloved this summer besides a couple practice sessions.
I just wanted to apologize for the lack of posts and to let you all know I'm still here :) Hope you guys are having wonderful summers.
Famous excerpt: The obbligato piccolo solo from Stars & Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa, beginning at the double bar line, marked Grandioso.
It's that time of year again.
Pandora loves helping me practise.
I have a tiny problem. I've been playing the flute for about seven years now, and I did try to play the piccolo once because my band teacher brought one in when I was a fifth grader. I was never able to play it that well because I have large fingers. Now that I'm about to start my first year at college I am told that to be in the marching band that they want all flute players to play piccolo. What should I do if I can't play one? I don't want to quit band.
You’ll be able to learn piccolo okay, especially if you’ve been playing flute for seven years and having large hands is your only disadvantage. I’m a guy and I have pretty large hands; picking up the piccolo at first after only playing the flute is always, always going to feel weird. But trust me when I say that after enough practice on the piccolo, it will feel just as natural as playing flute. :)
This is my face when people try to justify putting a flute on a stand (especially wire stands) by saying “it was just for the picture.”
