#today i was thinking about the start of bella’s narrative and getting emotional like one does  #because here’s this girl  #shy lonely anxious largely bereft of self-esteem  #but also sharp perceptive observant tough stubborn committed to what she knows is the truth  #full of self-doubt and determination at once  #and here she ends up in this small rainy town that symbolizes everything she doesn’t want for herself  #it’s empty and slow and quiet and stagnant  #it’s what split up her family and what she was probably taught not to stand in certain ways as she grew up  #it’s the last place she wants to be because it reminds her too much of the things she doesn’t like about herself  #‘i’m boring. i’m nobody. i’ll never be special or amazing. i’m worthless.’  #and then she finds out about the monsters  #she finds out that there’s a world full of mysteries and danger and adventure  #and if she chooses it it’ll make her heart race and her adrenaline spike  #and most importantly of all  #it will give her the chance to do things and to go places she never dreamed of or thought possible  #she never saw herself as capable of being strong or getting the things she desired  #but now there’s this opportunity full of darkness and teeth and she /wants it/ so viciously and with everything in her  #bella saw her way out and she took it  #my forever girl  (glitterandgrit)
