Lane & Anna
This whole scene was a roller coaster of emotions, and more for Lane than for Anna. The poor girl not only has to deal with the sins of others, with staying alive and performing services for the greater good (controlled by Donovan), but she also has to navigate her romantic life and make sure that her partner remains her partner after Baal’s fight and after everything, Anna still has doubts about Lane? That suck. Also, I can’t understand why it took Anna so long to have this conversation with Lane? Because at the end of HSR the conclusion had already been reached that “I love you, you love me, you can’t get rid of me now”. But nope, we still need more drama apparently.
And I think it’s more the writer’s fault the fact that Anna says that it is Lane who is avoiding to have a conversation with her when from the beginning of HS3 we have seen how Lane has been acting like an abandoned dog behind Anna looking for any reason to be close to her or talk to her. But. Yey! At least we can have our over due conversation. After 21 chapters.
Seriously, they may be a little toxic, but I still love them and their relationship. Lane not only brings out the worst in Anna but also the best, and vice versa. And for me Lane is a pretty unhinged character sometimes, but when she is with Anna? She feels more calm, and she wants more and she show more. So, after this honest talk one to one? I hope they can keep the flame without burning themselves.
Miss Lane “Can’t keep it in her pants”
It is admirable that despite everything that is happening Lane still has time to feel arousal every time she looks and think about Anna.
Audrey & Lane’s reunion
My girls, finally reunited! But at what cost? The resurrection of Audrey and the loss of her soul, and also Lane’s physical and mental health. Too much of a cost, clearly. It was such a bittersweet meeting for both of them. For Lane to confirm that her dear friend, for whom she have traveled the path she have traveled since obtaining the book is alive but... at the same time, Lane can see that Audrey is not herself. So is really her friend alive, or a copy of her friend? And Audrey! How can she embrace her friend when said friend is being poisoned with the sins that the members of her cult carry? Sins and filth, that she’s gonna deliver to the God of Darkness. It’s so fucked up, and the reunion that they deserve, the coffee and talk, the happiness for survive… they can’t have it. And I was expecting so kind of conversation between them, without Malek or Donovan, but it seems we need to wait for that to happen.
Shephamalum’s interest in Lane (or his plan)
That fucking motherfucker. That being said, it seems that it will be Team Astreans/Team Rotkov vs The Order, or rather what the writers want us to believe. And it makes sense that Shephamalum wants Lane for himself, after all Lane is the keeper of Sins, the instrument that Shepha “prepare” against Baal, she herself carry a part of the God of Light. And she is also the reason that Shephamalum is losing the souls of sinners, the impediment of him recovering his physical shape at this time. Also, I hate that Shephamalum are making Audrey being the Ruth for Lane. And before I forget… Audrey?! Is she really seeing that darkness/filth?!? Or is it her mind, already weak from so much torture, making her believe to see things? First her father, now this. I even think it’s the way Audrey’s mind is coping? Maybe the self-harm is the punishment for everything she has had to do on behalf of Shephamalum... And I won’t get tired of saying it, Audrey doesn’t deserve any of this, and it’s so difficult for me to read her chapters and see her team because it gives me so much rage to see how she has to continue suffering due to the decisions that others make in her name.
Donovan’s advice
Donovan being a mentor? Oh yeah, she can do that sometimes. But holy shit, she had me fooled for a few minutes until she mentioned the price of Lane’s/humanity salvation?! And for me, it was so uncharacteristic of her to do that. So I read it again, for the second time and calmer. And I get mad, again. I refuse to believe that Donovan gave up, that’s not her. In fact, each characteristic that she mention of the group are characteristics that she herself possess. Donovan has curiosity -that’s how she discovered the “particle of God” in the immortals-, she is persistent -that’s how she has continued to create plan after plan to save humanity-, she has inner hatred -for all those evil and hard decisions she has had to make-, she despises her own weakness -and the fact that she survived the collapse and the scars-, she wants freedom -she has been a puppet of Torendo for years and when she finally believed she had control Shephamalum appears-, and I think isn’t necessary to point out her resemblance to Lane. So yeah, that’s why I believe that the heart to heart with Lane wasn’t a simple manipulation. She won’t give humanity destiny to Shephamalum so easily, and she’s know that her niece and nephew won’t let her do that. Once she endangered humanity by going against Lane, I doubt she will do it again. Now, make the immortals believe that humans are defenseless and are in favor of Shephamalum? I do see it possible, she has to make sure that they have the necessary means to attack and emerge victorious. What if she has to sacrifice Lane and her elite group for that to happen? Done. No thoughts needed. Donovan can sacrifice a few for the good of many. I do hope that she has a plan, and maybe that plan is using Lane and her mind (remember the stone that the Spear of Longinus had? I think we’re going to go back to that cause Lane keeps that stone with her notebook). Could it be that her thought process is like “we’re going to marry Lane to Shephamalum, we’re going to discover his weakness, and we’re going to kill several birds with one shot”?. Also… I think Donovan is another of the characters we can see dying in this season or the next, and if so, I hope that the reason for her death is cause she’s fighting against Shephamalum’s minions. I really can’t see her being part of Shephamalum team. She can be many things but not a coward. And she won’t give humanity destiny to Shephamalum so easily, she hate immortals and she knows that with the God of Darkness humans will never be free and prosperous.
Okay... so there are many things to discuss about the new chapters of HS3. I feel that the last six chapters we got a lot of information, new reasons, new development of certain relationships... and personally, I received so much that I don’t know where to focus and start processing.
That all being said, WHAT ARE THE WRITES DOING TO MY BABIES!?!
Me: “Ugh. Mohan looks so ugly next to Sara, he should die soon.”
*A few minutes later*
This woman is gonna be the death of me…
*screaming, crying, throwing up, giggling, twirling my hair, kicking my feet in the air*
the astreans are soo unserious like dude. u attacked the citadel, at christmas, wiped out the whole choir + a bunch of other people, ruined the whole celebrations — even though heaven didn't want to fight and, paraphrased quote, 'they are preparing for a celebration, while we are preparing for war.'
and after all this, when eragon erases naum ( which i personally thought was perfectly in character for him ), the astreans act like eragon is the one who injured sammy/killed a boy, wiped out dozens of angels and killed the firstborn. audrey says ''we killed the firstborn :((( so they took one of our own :(((''
babygirl i love u but what 😀 this is war, you literally killed the firstborn and beelzebub and some innocent children... why is malek comforting mikael?? why is mikael some tragic tortured hero because he bought children's storybooks? why is david such an asshole? why is everyone acting like this is hs2?
OWN UP TO YOUR WAR CRIMES audrey does not get a pass!! i absolutely adore her, she's my favorite, but compared to vicky and lane it's like she's been lobotomized 😭 why is she the one comforting mikael and feeling bad for the rest of the astreans when they are and he is responsible for her being tortured to the extent of throwing up her organs and being forced to relive her trauma everyday. this is all the writer's fault not hers i still love her and the astreans BUT WHYY
Mimi, the goddess that you are.
I fear I’ll get reported if I say the things I want to say…
Mimi’s pain
From the start we have been told and shown that Mimi has suffered from her imprisonment but there is something that is not clear to me... how long was Mimi imprisoned, for four years or less? I would like to clarify this information in the future (I don’t remember if Alice has already done it and I didn’t noticed). Leaving this aside, there is no denying that Mimi has changed. Not only do we have to take into account what she suffered with Plague, but also the imprisonment under Shephamalum. And Mimi has been reluctant to talk about it with Vicky, we don’t know what they did to her or how she managed to escape. All we know so far is because of the comments of others, the fact that Vicky was not caught because Mimi used her power on Vicky, the doubt of Eragon and Rebecca... and Mimi’s attitude. How at times she can be indifferent, as if she were detaching herself from everyone around her… and her pain.
I think this is a different side from Mimi cause in the two previous books we have seen how Mimi is proud to show what she feels whether it is joy, sadness, disgust, anger, pleasure. She is an expressive character, who is not afraid to feel what she feels and is vocal about what she thinks. But now? Vicky tries to catch her, make Mimi be honest with her but Mimi raises her wall more and more. I hope Mimi show us these wounds soon, and that she let Vicky be there for her as Vicky wants to be.
Rebecca’s foreshadowing (also maybe even her own death?)
Despite the fact that Mimi was betrayed, captured by the enemy’s army and has escaped (either on her own merit, help from the enemy or some other plan), this does not mean that The Order of Resistance will trust her blindly now that she is back with them. Eragon doesn’t hesitate to say it, and Rebecca doesn’t hesitate to point it out. Is Mimi a spy of Shephamalum or is she innocent and just hurt? I have no doubt that she has scars, but, I do have doubts about her being a spy even if there are arguments that validate this thinking. 1) Mimi is a loyal character, 2) She would not support violence/harm against her family, she is protective 3) She is Mimi, not Malbonte (don’t hate to Malbonte, it’s just that he’s like Malek, always has a hidden plan). Things that we do know, 1) we know that Shephamalum communicates with demons 2) as its creator has some power over them, could this be affecting Mimi? I see it possible. Maybe she hears his voice? It would be a good card that Shephamalum would have against Vicky. I think we definitely need more material to validate that Mimi is a spy... and if I am incorrect, I won’t feel deceived, it will bothers me but. Mimi has always wanted to be an actress, so I will see it as a role that she played and I will applaud her.
Now going to Rebecca, I really appreciate her advice. First I was outraged “how dare you say that about your daughter-in-law?!? MY WIFE?!?” And then I reread again and I was like “oh, you’re worried about her too”. Which is valid and understandable. I love how Rebecca has remained being strong and untouchable, she has climbed with her own effort and intelligence, she is a threat to Shephamalum’s army for her ability to adapt, to acquire command and not be afraid to make decisions that for others may be inhumane. And in the same time, she has shown that maternal side, she loves her daughter, she would kill for Vicky and if she has to beg for the salvation of her daughter she would also do it despite being so proud.
This is why I’m afraid we’re gonna say goodbye to Rebecca… The ABH Gang knows that Rebecca is a threat, Shephamalum will do his best to destroy Vicky and what better way to destroy someone than to start with they family? Family that Vicky love and cherish, family that it has cost her to keep protected. First against Malbonte, then Plague, and now this other war that began as soon as the battle against the Mother of Life ended. Rebecca has shown fear before, but I can’t remember a single time that she told Vicky “if they catch you, give up.” That isn’t Rebecca, she keeps fighting until the end, she is a survivor, like Vicky. And that’s why I think it’s worrying that she’s telling her daughter “bow your head.” She won’t do it, she rather die. But she won’t let her daughter die.
Mimi’s power
Previously I commented on how I think Mimi’s power has evolved from being a power of seduction to being a more terrifying and controlling one. I feel that this evolution goes hand in hand with everything she has been through since the first war until now, and that it’s also represents her maturity. As Mimi said: “If you want peace, prepare for war.” She will get her hands dirty, and she will not be afraid to do it to protect her people. She has the tools, the power and the will. She will control whoever she has to control and oh boy, I will love to see it. But I wonder… How did Mimi feel using her power against Vicky? Asking her to run away without her? In what she was thinking when she was alone away from her family and her wife? Did she hate herself for what she did? (someone, give me the angst). It’s a shame that we had to wait so long to see Mimi in this light, but I’m glad to know that she’s finally being given the opportunity to shine. She’s gonna steal everyone heart. I just know.
Something that surprised me about this update was the importance that Mimi acquired and the fact that she is still her… like in this scene we can appreciate more of Mimi’s growth and in the same way we can see how she has preserved her essence. Yes, she was kidnapped (probably tortured), yes, this is her third war in less than 25 (more or less?) years but. She still maintains her mischievous and innocent side, her seductive and playful core.
Also… I don’t think Mimi is gonna be a traitor, but I do think she and Felonia have some kind of deal. I know that Felonia has already fulfilled her role as a double agent in ABH, but I think that in this case something similar could be happening? They emphasized the fact that Dino could not catch Fel because of Mimi’s intervention..., and we can’t see any kind of remorse on her face. Another thing they have emphasized is Mimi’s power... I can see her using it to her advantage and maybe controlling Felonia? And that’s how she managed to escape?
