i’ve never understood the concept of perfectionism. in my experience, it doesn’t do any good. i’ve seen people who give extreme importance to perfectionism and they are almost all the time unapproachable and alien. i can never relate with them. but on the other hand, there are people i admire and when they make mistakes, i love them a little more. for example, i love taylor swift. the eras tour is amazing but i love to watch the compilations of little mistakes and errors she makes, like forgetting the lyrics and her clothing getting tangled. it makes her seem more human, more likeable. i find comfort in knowing she isn’t perfect. it’s not just taylor. jennifer lawrence, selena gomez in her cooking shows, all the blooper videos we love to watch!
and the best part, there is scientific backing explaining this phenomenon. it is called the pratfall effect — your likability increases if you aren’t perfect. isn’t that amazing?
it’s time we stop being over-critical of ourselves because of our mistakes 🤍
