Player: How do you intend to spend your newfound freedom?
Aylin: I am free from my bonds, but not my duty. The Dead Three are risen - the Dead Two remain.
Isobel: It's all out in the open now. And with my father dead, I have nothing to fear. Except for Aylin. She needs healing. Rest.
This is about a specific Realms-threatening event, yes, and I understand in this particular situation there isn't really much time and opportunity to rest, but these two lines of dialogue spoken within minutes of each other highlight what I think is the main source of conflict between these two and one I personally want to see explored so very much.
To drive it home, this one bit from Aylin's tragic, Isobel-less letter that confirms she has simply plowed on for six months after said event, and will just never stop if left to her own devices, without her main humanising influence and tether:
But rest has not found Dame Aylin, no - I pursue the heels of a villain no less foul than the so-called 'Absolute'.
As opposed to the post-Lorroakan variant of:
Player: I hope you can rest easy now, Dame Aylin.
Aylin: I always do, with darling Isobel by my side.
Of course, the best part is Isobel seems pretty bad at practicing what she preaches in this aspect and is in full "look after my angel, of course" mode, insisting that she is "up for the task", focusing on all that Aylin's been through, helping her, and not talking about her own well-being at all. I'm back here, basically. I never really left.
