i really do love planet of fire part four because in the space of about ten minutes:

the doctor stands by and ignores the master's pleas for mercy, letting him die while having the power to save him at his fingertips

murders kamelion at the slightest of prompting

makes turlough leave.

and of course this comes after resurrection of the daleks, where tegan runs from him in tears because she can't bear to be with him any longer because too many people die around him. and he's just been through that. all those people dying.

and BEFORE that the doctor has seen his tutor whom he clearly admires and trusts get power hungry and do a bunch of awful shit.

and like. not to reference excelis dawns but the doctor in that same special saw his past selves all too old. like they'd been living more without him. like. man. he's just having a really bad time. and then immediately after planet of fire he gets tortured relentlessly and dies

my feeling with regards to the billie piper cliffhanger was like 'well it's stupid but i suppose if this is what it takes to secure the show's ongoing existence it will be worth it'. consequently i now feel comfortable saying: that was simply fucking stupid wasn't it

hey do you remember that really embarrassing “rebranding” of doctor who where they split off the new new doctor who from new doctor who (2005-2022), intending it to be a whole new era of doctor who?

people are going to look back on this and ask, why were there only 21 episodes before an indefinite hiatus?
