My best friend has a cat named Virgil (actually, his name is Vegas, but everyone calls him Virgil)

He's the sweetest old man on the planet, a very sophisticated gentleman who kind of looks like a polar bear

Recently, he stopped eating. My best friend has to force feed him broth, just so he has something, but he vomits right after. Veterinarians suspect a tumour, but many costly tests are needed before they know for sure. My friend has created a gofundme campaign, and please, if you have the means, any amount of help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm so, so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you gave Baudelaire a great life and he knew he was loved.

Thank you for the condolences. I loved that cat with my entire heart, and the grief has been intense. We are lucky enough to have spent lots of time with him in his final days, and he was cherished and spoiled the entire time we had him. Reaching out really helped, thank you ❤️

Hey everyone, I am once again requesting emergency assistance for my beloved bingus, Baudelaire. We have suspected asthma for the past few months due to infrequent coughing episodes, and had a scheduled vet appointment with him for the beginning of June in order to address the issue. Unfortunately, his health has taken a turn in the past few days and we do not believe he will be able to wait for the scheduled appointment.

The coughing fits have progressed to rapid breathing, lethargy, reduced appetite, and wheezing. While signs are still pointing to asthma, he is noticeably uncomfortable and I do not believe he can wait for two weeks to be seen, especially given the early signs of respiratory distress. Vet says the exam will likely include bloodwork and an xray, and then we'll have to pay for whatever treatment medication he needs to pull through alright. The rub is we had just enough money to eat for the rest of the month and this throws a MASSIVE wrench in the whole not starving thing.

We have scheduled an emergency appointment for him later today, HOPEFULLY we have enough in our account to pay for the visit, but I am opening emergency commissions on a pay-what-you-can basis in order to help fund treatment for my skin-beast and maybe even the luxury of being able to eat for the next two weeks.

UPDATE:

We did end up being able to take him to the emergency vet, and after images the vet told us that the condition was either asthma or cancer. Unfortunately, it ended up being the later, and Baudelaire passed yesterday afternoon. We have paid the vet, but this did end up withdrawing our account by about 50 dollars. I am still taking commissions in order for us to have the funds to pay for groceries and other expenses for the rest of the month, since his emergency care depleted the rest of our account, but I wanted to update this post so folks were aware my beloved little man is no longer with us.

Well wishes would be incredibly helpful in this time. Even if you are unable to commission or donate, just dropping a message in my inbox or DMs would mean the world to me. Baudelaire was deeply loved and myself and my spouse are in a lot of shock and grief.
